Heart of it All
Greetings!

Here we are, two weeks away from the Red, White & Rouge All Over Gala and all of the preparations are coming together nicely. We are thrilled about the many special touches we've added this year to make it a truly all-Canadian event.

We are excited to bring you some new details about the night in this week's Community Giving eNews, along with the regular updates on donor and hospital news.

If you haven't already made plans to be at the Gala this year, don't worry, there is still time to secure your tickets. But I warn you to hurry, because they are going fast and you won't want to miss out.

Sincerely,

Chad Hanna

Big Macs make McDonalds
big smiles for
Buy a Bed

The Malvern Town Centre McDonald's restaurant held a grand re-opening on March 10, revealing its stylish new look and used the special occasion to support the Rouge Valley Centenary hospital  Buy a Bed Campaign.

Many Buy a Bed supporters were on hand to volunteer or drop in to buy a tasty treat to support the cause, including campaign co-chairs, Paul and Janet Ainslie, with their children.

For that Saturday, $1 from every Big Mac sold was donated to the campaign and customers enjoyed a visit from Ronald McDonald himself.

The Image is Everything campaign enjoyed a recent visit from Bridget Lawrence of EchoHealth Canada Services Inc and Shashi Bhatia of the Indo-Canadian Cultural Association of Durham. They delivered on a donation of $1,000 to the campaign raised through a Health and Wellness Symposium they held in 2011.

The two women were given a tour of the MRI suite during the visit and saw firsthand how the unit works. Thank you to the Indo-Canadian Cultural Association of Durham and your many partners for your support. You have put yourself in the picture and helped to bring an MRI to Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital.

Gala paddles Artists
show off local
artistic talents

Bonnie Lynn Lusty, Gary Faulkner and Gwen Williams recently took on a new challenge for the Rouge Valley Health System Foundation.

The Gala Organizing Committee was looking for artists to paint donated paddles to help with the upcoming Red, White & Rouge All Over Gala and we were so pleased when the three artists agreed.

Red White & Rouge All Over

All three are members of the PineRidge Arts Council and they volunteered their time and talent to create these original pieces. Their work is stunning and guests of the Gala will have the opportunity to win the right to take a paddle home through the Gala's fabulous silent auction if they have the highest bid.

Spotlight on cardiac services captured on video

A YouTube video series by Rouge Valley Health System's (RVHS) leading cardiac care program is giving patients and the community valuable information about heart care and its innovative services.

The five videos, which star RVHS staff and physicians, can be found on Rouge Valley's website and its YouTube channel. The videos emphasize several of the features of Rouge Valley's regional cardiac program for the Scarborough-Durham area.
