Rouge Valley Centenary Buy a Bed campaign

Heart of it All
Greetings!

I hope you are having a great summer!

We are very fortunate at the Foundation to have had a very busy summer season so far and we have enjoyed great support, as always, at annual golf events in support of our campaigns and at the festivals we attend to promote our activities and the Rouge Valley Health System.

Thank you to all of our supporters who take part as sponsors, volunteers or participants at these events. Your time and financial support are so valuable and we recognize the sacrifice you make happily on our behalf.

As the summer comes to a close in the weeks ahead, we will continue to be as busy as ever and hope to count on your support and participation in a couple of special events coming up soon. Race HorsePlease mark Aug. 21 and Aug. 29 on your calendars. On the 21st we will be at Ajax Downs racetrack for the second annual Free Family Fun Day at the Races. And on the morning of the 29th, a day we have been anticipating for more than a year finally arrives, with the MRI magnet being delivered at Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital.

Look for details on these events below. And thank you for reading this edition of Community Giving.

GAINs program
Clara Tsang, geriatric emergency management (GEM) nurse, and Dianna Harrison, manager, emergency, fracture clinic and the GAIN clinic welcomed the first patient to Gain, Mrs. Florentina Valenzuela, earlier this year.

Rouge Valley making GAINs

A new clinic based at Rouge Valley Centenary (RVC) is focusing its efforts on providing specialized care aimed specifically at seniors.

Since opening last December, the Geriatric Assessment and Intervention Network (GAIN) clinic has received more than 100 referrals, and has seen more than 70 patients. Two new assessments and follow-up visits are taken on average each day in the clinic, which is open from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Referrals are received from both the hospital's emergency departments and the community.

Faster care in Emergency Department

An innovative approach to patient care at RVHS is helping to get patients into an emergency doctor's care more quickly.

The new patient navigator is a registered nurse in the emergency department (ED) responsible for managing a patient's journey through the ED to ensure that clinical services are delivered more quickly and within the province's targeted timeframes.
