Of special note, there is big news about the MRI for Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital. Read on to find out more, because you will want to make plans to be up early on Monday, August 29!

Both hospital campuses win Readers' Choice Awards
 

 
Staff, physicians and volunteers at Rouge Valley Health System's (RVHS) two hospital campuses have another reason to be proud of the quality patient care they provide everyday.
 
Both hospital campuses are winners in this year's Readers' Choice Awards in The Durham Business Times (for Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering) and The Scarborough Mirror (for Rouge Valley Centenary) in the Best Healthcare and Best Hospital categories, respectively. Nominees for The Durham Business Times are selected across all of Durham Region, while The Scarborough Mirror's nominees include all of Toronto.

Rouge's digital mammography recognized for 'gold standard' care      


Rouge Valley Health System's new digital mammography unit, installed last summer at its Centenary hospital campus, has recently been accredited by the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR), as part of the Mammography Accreditation Program.

"For Rouge Valley to earn this three-year accreditation is very significant, as it ensures that when patients come to our hospital, they are receiving the gold standard of care," says Jeff Hohenkerk, director of medical diagnostic imaging and laboratory services, Rouge Valley Health System.

IIE on a flatbedThe magnet arrives on August 29!  

As the sun rises on Monday, Aug. 29, a special parade will be making its way through Pickering and then Ajax, and a major milestone will be reached by the Image is Everything campaign.

That's the day the massive magnet, the heart of the MRI machine, arrives at Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital. So the campaign team is pulling out all the stops to make the occasion a special one.

9th Floor Broda Chairs
Volunteers see donation in action
 

The 9th Floor team at Rouge Valley Centenary welcomed representatives from the hospital's Volunteer Services team on July 19, to show them the new Broda Chairs their recent gift purchased for patients on the floor.

The chairs make life better for patient and staff alike, making it easier to move patients and get them around the floor in comfort.

City of PickeringPickering presents first installment
of $500,000 gift to Image is Everything
 


On July 11, 2011, volunteers from the Image is Everything campaign attended the City of Pickering's Council meeting to receive a $100,000 cheque from the Mayor and councillors.

This gift is towards the City of Pickering's $500,000 pledge to the Image is Everything campaign that raising money to bring an MRI to Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital.

Lucy Stocco, campaign chair, thanked the City for their commitment to the campaign and for helping to ensure that their residents have the best health care close to home.

Free Family Fun Day at the Races
is back for another great year!

Ajax Downs and Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario, Inc. have returned to host the second annual Free Family Fun Day at the Races, Sunday, Race DayAugust 21st, to support the "Image is Everything" Campaign to bring an MRI scanner to Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital.

The petting zoo, face painting, try-the-track run for kids and many of the fun activities from last year will be back again. Also, be there to meet Wendel Clark, former Toronto Maple Leafs player, during an autograph session.
