Rouge Valley Centenary Buy a Bed campaign

Heart of it All
Greetings!

As we enjoy a beautiful start to June, we here at the Foundation are very excited about the upcoming celebrations planned this month for the 25th Anniversary of the grand-opening of the Margaret Birch Wing of Rouge Valley Centenary hospital. We are especially appreciative of the opportunity to welcome The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, who will be on hand for a special celebration on June 23.

This occasion will also be a celebration of Mrs. Birch's 90th Birthday, with a strawberry social planned. We hope you will join us in the Margaret Birch Wing lobby for these two special events, from 2:45 sharp, to 5 p.m. on June 23. RSVP to 416-281-7342 or foundation@rougevalley.ca by  June 15 if you would like to attend.

As you may already be aware, after reading our last Community Giving email, these milestone occasions are also an opportunity to promote the Buy a Bed campaign at RVC. So, as part of this exciting week, we are lucky to have our friends at Breakfast Television returning for a special Bed, Breakfast and Beyond 'Bed-a-Thon' on the morning of Monday, June 20.

Read more about that event in the Fundraising Events section of this edition of Community Giving.

Best regards,

Carole Chabot, CFRE

Alternatives available for making donations during postal disruptions

Due to the uncertainty of the mail system in the days ahead, as postal workers take work action and a possible strike looms, the Rouge Valley Health System Foundation would like to offer alternatives to any donors concerned about mail delays.

Please note that you can use our secure online donation website or call the Foundation office at 905-683-2320, ext. 1501, or 416-281-7342 to talk to one of our staff and make your donation by phone.

Donations made online will receive an immediate electronic tax receipt.  Please note that receipts for other donations may be delayed as postal disruptions continue.

We would like to express our appreciation to all of our generous donors who make it possible to purchase leading-edge medical equipment for both hospital sites of the Rouge Valley Health System.

New laser helps children with serious skin condition

Eight-year old Duncan Rutherford loves getting his "spots."

Every two months, the Grade 2 Toronto student undergoes a 20-minute laser treatment at Rouge Valley Centenary hospital campus. A new laser in Rouge Valley Health System's (RVHS) paediatric laser program is helping to improve the quality of care for patients like Duncan, who are treated for hemangioma or port wine stains.
