Boot Drive 2010 breaks fundraising record
We are so excited to announce that this year's Pickering Professional Firefighters Association Boot Drive made an astounding $17,000, from our "Image is Everything" MRI campaign fundraising day on October 23. This is the largest amount we have ever done on a single day and we would like to thank the Pickering firefighters and all of our volunteers for helping us achieve this goal. Of course we also thank the local community for giving so generously and for bringing us one step closer to an MRI for Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital. |
Advertising for an MRI
As publications dedicated to strengthening our community, Snap Ajax and Snap Pickering will allocate 10 per cent of all ads booked now for the December and January issues, to support the "Image is Everything" Campaign that is raising funds to bring an MRI at Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital. Your support will be acknowledged by inserting the following line to your ad "We are proud to support the Image is Everything Campaign at our local community hospital" as well as a thank you ad to be published in the February issue of SNAP which thanks all participating advertisers. To book your ad, please contact John Allen, General Manager at SNAP Ajax and SNAP Pickering by calling 905-239-0940 or 905-409-6816. |
Put yourself in the driver's seat
The Buy a Bed campaign which launched in April this year has presented the staff and volunteers with so many exciting opportunities! We've had many very creative events - bed races, Breakfast Television taping, bed making contests. We have had some cool third party events in the community as well. BBQ's, Festivals, and even in memoriam donations toward making our goal of replacing 100 beds for our Centenary campus.
We would love it if some of our local corporate partners decided to hold special "Bed Drives" for their holiday giving.
Some ideas could include:
- Holiday Party for staff
- Dress Down Days
- Pajama party
- Have a Bed Race (we will provide the beds!)
- Corporate match to employee giving
- Bowling Tournament
- 50/50 draws
- Dinner/Dance
- Auction off an executive doing the winner's job for one hour
- Have staff members prepare lunches to be auctioned off to co-workers
- Raffle a day off work
Have some fun and do some good for your local hospital and your employees!
For more information on how you can become involved, please contact Katherine Craine at 416-281-7119. |

Heartfelt giving:To Rouge with Love
The week before Valentine's Day will be a truly heartfelt celebration at homes in Scarborough, Pickering, and Ajax as hosts gather family, friends and colleagues to celebrate Heart Month, Valentine's Day, and Rouge Valley's Cardiac Care program.
A series of "To Rouge With Love" cocktail fundraisers will be hosted by local residents to help purchase Echocardiogram machines. This is the second year for this event which last year raised $20,000 for cardiac care at Rouge Valley. Guests make a minimum $100 donation when they attend and have the opportunity to meet and hear from cardiologists and other leaders in Rouge Valley's regional cardiac care programme. This year's goal is to have at least 10 hosts raising funds and awareness of Rouge Valley's leadership in cardiac care!
To volunteer as a host, make a donation to the "Echo" campaign or for more information, please contact Ros Sagar-Lal at 416-281-7463.

Margaret Birch Wing - 25th Anniversary and Margaret Birch's 90th Birthday
One of Centenary's best known volunteers and public servants, Margaret Birch, will be celebrating her 90th birthday in 2011. The celebration also coincides with the 25th anniversary of her namesake hospital wing.
In 1986, following a $30 million expansion, the Margaret Birch Wing opened, housing a new and expanded emergency department, advanced medical equipment for cardio-respiratory services and diagnostic imaging, new cardiac and intensive care facilities, as well as 107 beds.
An open house celebration on June 23, 2011 will welcome staff, volunteers and the community to celebrate Margaret's birthday and the Margaret Birch Wing 25th anniversary. |
