Greetings!
Special thanks to Breakfast Television and Jennifer Valentyne for helping the Foundation spread the word about our new Rouge Valley Centenary Buy a Bed campaign with the Live Eye on Tuesday! We had lots of enthusiastic patients, physicians, staff, donors and volunteers cheering on -- or participating in -- our bed races and bed-making competitions. It was a blast!
We officially launch the campaign today, so we'll have more for you in our next issue. Until then, please enjoy these:
For more information on how you can support the campaign, please email Katherine Craine or call 416-281-7119.

Palliative patient touts excellent nursing morale
This letter is to express my appreciation of the fine service I have received at your hospital since being taken by ambulance to your Emergency Room on October 9th. My diagnosis is terminal cancer of the liver, but I am aged 79 and have had a good life, so I am quite calm about this. In the meantime, my surgeon, Dr. Goussev, and your medical staff have been providing me with palliative care. Over the last six months, I have spent roughly 30 nights in your hospital, and I am grateful for their efforts and for the care shown by all your nursing and support staff.
My main purpose in writing to you is to thank you for the fine quality of your nursing staff. During my stays at your hospital, I have been greatly impressed by the unfailing kindness and consideration of your nurses, by their energy, hard work and devotion to patients' needs, and by the ready way in which they cooperate with each other when a patient's needs require more than one nurse in attendance. There is also their cheerfulness and sense of humour, which are a real source of assurance to the patients. This excellent morale of the nursing staff is a tribute to the nurses, both individually and collectively, and reflects most favourably on the hospital management.
I thought that I would like to let you know how much I have appreciated the services provided by your hospital.
Yours sincerely, J.H. |
