RVHS receives Tree of Life™ harvest
Thanks to the generosity of customers and employees, proceeds from Shoppers Drug Mart's 2009 Tree of Life campaign supported important women's health programs at both hospital campuses of Rouge Valley Health System. In Scarborough and surrounding areas, an astounding $50,000 was raised for the Birthing and Newborn Centre located at Rouge Valley Centenary hospital. In Ajax, Pickering and Whitby, more than $9,000 was raised for maternal and newborn programs and services at Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital, which will be used to purchase sleeper chairs, wheelchairs, shower chairs, pulse oximeters, and digital thermometers.

Delivering the Gift of Health
Our 2009 Gift of Health philanthropy campaign was a heart-warming success. Donations are still coming in, and over 300 messages from donors were displayed throughout both hospital campuses.
TOY DRIVES
Toy drives help make a child's stay in the hospital that much easier, and we'd like to thank the following for their generous gifts:

HOLIDAY SOCIALS
On Dec. 14 and 15, 2009, staff, physicians, and volunteers of RVAP and RVC celebrated the holiday season at the annual Holiday Socials held at both campuses. The events featured treats, games, and live music by Juno-Award-nominated musician David Leask. The staff wrote heartfelt messages to thank our donors at this celebration, and their messages were posted at both Foundation offices.

 Moore help for Rouge Valley
The Foundation's Board of Directors provides us with direction and advice and ensures that we fulfill our mission statement. Our group of dedicated volunteers include knowledgeable and experienced people who are passionate about their community
"We were looking for a novel idea to raise money for the cardiac care program and when we heard about this idea we were certain it would be a winner," said Gord. "The cost for the guests is relatively low at $100 per couple, the cost for the Foundation is minimal, since each hosting couple is providing the food and beverage at their own expense, and yet the total amount of money raised has the potential to be substantial. The events should also be good fun which is important with any fundraiser in our opinion."
To Rouge with Love is set to take place on Thursday, February 11 at homes throughout the GTA; our goal is for generous hosts and guests to gather simultaneously to celebrate Heart Month, as well as Valentine's Day, in support of Rouge Valley Health System's Cardiac Care program. Funds raised will purchase vital heart-saving equipment and a guest from Rouge Valley Health System will be at each event to explain why this equipment is so important and how it is used. |
