Ajax Lions Club supports RVAP surgery
The Ajax Lions Club recently served the community by presenting a cheque in the amount of $70,500 for urgently-needed medical equipment for Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital. This is a great benefit to the community because it will purchase $10,000 worth of surgical pain pumps and a $60,500 surgical tower for the Operating Room. The proceeds were raised by hosting community fundraising events and from a donation in memory of the late Lion Terry Audet and his wife Dorothy.
Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. Their volunteer efforts address health needs of our local community.

Granting toys for RVAP Paeds patients
The Starlight, Starbright Foundation provides grants to hospitals designed to offer comfort, companionship and a welcome break from medical treatment for pediatric patients. The Foundation recently received a $1,000 grant plus the cost of Nintendo toys at the Pickering Toys R Us, including four Nintendo DS, twelve all-age games and four Pro Starter Kits. These toys are for paediatric patients admitted throughout the Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital, including the Emergency Department and Surgical and Paediatric units.
It can be a scary thing for a child to be in hospital, whether it is due to an emergency or for a scheduled procedure. Our staff know that a simple toy or game can make the world of difference to our paediatric patients.
