Philanthropy isn't about giving; it's about caring enough to give. That's why Trick-or-Treaters have the opportunity to visit their neighbours every October. Communities are built on caring.

Happy and safe Halloween!

Two physicians join RVHS
Emergency physician Dr. Mohamed Abounaja, who began at RVHS earlier this spring, is seeing patients at the emergency departments of both Rouge Valley Centenary and Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering. Plastic surgeon Dr. Allan Eckhaus treats both adult and paediatric patients, including traumas in the emergency department, skin cancers, carpal tunnel, and breast reconstruction. Although he is based at RVAP, he sees some patients at RVC every second Monday at the minor surgery clinic. MORE

2009 Boot DriveFirefighters' drive for healthcare
The Pickering Professional Firefighters Association held their annual Boot Drive, in support of Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital, on sunny October 17. The firefighters collected funds alongside volunteers from RVHS, the Foundation, and some of their children. Stay tuned for details about how much they raised. A special thank you to the area residents for their generosity of spare change and loose bills. Every penny counts!

Politician praises local hospital
It is my pleasure to write to you today regarding my recent experience in the Emergency Department at Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital. On Friday, September 18, at approximately 1 p.m., I checked in at the Emergency Department front desk as I was experiencing chest pains. The nurse who greeted me and assessed my condition was most attentive, kind and reassuring. She made me feel at ease and handled my concern with professionalism and care.

I was attended to immediately and blood work and ECGs were done. I was examined by nurses, doctors and x-ray technicians, and each and every one of these professionals were totally amazing, friendly and proficient. Through all of this, I observed others being treated with the same compassion and attentiveness.

The Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering hospital is one our community's most valued assets and my recent experience there has only served to reinforce this. Please pass on my appreciation and praise to all staff for their remarkable hospitality.
