Theology on Tap
Friday, September 28 @ 7pm
(meets on the last Friday of each month)
This Friday, 9/28, is the date for our monthly meeting of Theology On Tap. Our former venue, Firkin and Crown has closed, and in it's place is the new Four40 Kitchen and Bar. Let's give it a shot and see how we like it. As always, we'll meet at 7pm. If possible, please RSVP to danistartt@yahoo.com, or reply on our new Facebook page (click here).  For info or directions to the Four40 restaurant, click here.
Parish Bazaar - Just 1 Week Away!!
bazaar Friday & Saturday, October 5 & 6
Mark your calendars now ... tell all your neighbors and friends about St. Columba's Fall Bazaar!  There will be baked goods, jewelry, used furniture, books, crafts, Christmas gifts, and the good ole "Junk for Jesus" rummage sale.  Other commercial vendors will have booths and displays set up as well.  The weekend will be catered by Shane's Rib Shack (eat at the church or take to-go meals home with you).  A recent addition will even have Kroger Pharmacy providing Flu vaccinations in one of the cottages if you'd like to get your flu shot conveniently while you're attending the bazaar.
If you have furniture or rummage sale items to drop off, a secure storage bin has been set up on site.  Contact Father Tripp or Jim Lambert to schedule delivery (you can also bring it with you to Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday mornings).
WHEN
Friday Evening - 4pm - 7pm
Saturday - 9am-6pm
Blessing of Animals
blessing-of-animals Wednesday, October 3 @ 6:30pm
Our annual blessing of animals will take place this coming Wednesday, October 3 at 6:30pm.  Bring you cats, dogs, turtles, guinea pigs... whatever pet you have (leashed or crated, please) for the annual pet blessing and Mass.  We'll gather outside in the quad between the church and Sunday school cottages.  In the event of inclement weather, we'll meet in the church.  This event is a delight every year and reminder of the grace of God that fills our lives in so many ways.
EYC - September 30
eycBowling!!
This Sunday, middle school and high school EYC will combine and go bowling.  Everyone is asked to meet at the church and the group will leave promptly at 5pm.  (Plan to arrive before 5).  The group will return by 8:00 pm.  The cost is $20, which covers bowling, shoe rental, pizza and a beverage.  If you have any questions, contact Easton (email) or Zach (email).
Senior High Retreat
happening Happening #58
November 16-18, 2012 @ Camp Mikell
Registration is now open for the next Happening Retreat, open to all those in 9-12th grades.  The weekend is an awesome opportunity to grow in your faith and meet teenagers from around the diocese.
This weekend is part of our confirmation program, so all those who were confirmed in September and all those who would like to be confirmed later this Spring are expected to attend the weekend.  We're especially excited for the November weekend, since it will be led by our own Caroline Lamb!
Space is limited and we expect this weekend to fill up quickly; so register early.  The deadline to register is November 4 at midnight. Scholarships are available.  To learn more about the weekend, click here.
If you have any questions, email Easton or Zach

Evensong for Bishop Alexander
Bishop Alexander Sunday, September 30 at 4:00 pm

A Choral Evensong liturgy will be offered in thanksgiving for the ministry of the Rt. Rev. J. Neil Alexander at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Cathedral of St. Philip. All people of the diocese are invited to participate in the liturgy and a reception that follows in Child Hall.   St. Columba's will be one of the parish choirs singing at this festive evensong.

Bishop Alexander steps down as our Diocesan Bishop in October after 11 years of service as the ninth bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta. The celebration will include a special guest preacher, the performance of a choral anthem commissioned for the event, and, during the reception, the unveiling of a portrait of Bishop Alexander.

Calling All Acolytes - New & Old
We're in need of acolytes to serve once a month at the 9:00 and 11:15 Masses on Sundays.  If you are in the 3rd - 12th grades, we would love for you to join the ministry of our wonderful acolytes.  You can sign up on Sunday mornings using the form in the bulletin or on the Welcome Table.  We're also asking all current acolytes to fill out a form as well so we can keep our lists up to date.  If you have any questions, just talk with Kristi Parkinson or Father Tripp.
