Parish Bazaar - 2 Weeks Away!!

Mark your calendars now ... tell all your neighbors and friends about St. Columba's Fall Bazaar!  There will be baked goods, jewelry, used furniture, books, crafts, Christmas gifts, and the good ole "Junk for Jesus" rummage sale.  Other commercial vendors will have booths and displays set up as well.  The weekend will be catered by Shane's Rib Shack (eat at the church or take to-go meals home with you).  A recent addition will even have Kroger Pharmacy providing Flu vaccinations in one of the cottages if you'd like to get your flu shot conveniently while you're attending the bazaar.
If you have furniture or rummage sale items to drop off, a secure storage bin has been set up on site.  Contact Father Tripp or Jim Lambert to schedule delivery (you can also bring it with you to Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday mornings).

Senior High Retreat
happening Happening #58
November 16-18, 2012 @ Camp Mikell
Registration is now open for the next Happening Retreat, open to all those in 9-12th grades.  The weekend is an awesome opportunity to grow in your faith and meet teenagers from around the diocese.
This weekend is part of our confirmation program, so all those who were confirmed in September and all those who would like to be confirmed later this Spring are expected to attend the weekend.  We're especially excited for the November weekend, since it will be led by our own Caroline Lamb!
Space is limited and we expect this weekend to fill up quickly; so register early.  The deadline to register is November 4 at midnight. Scholarships are available.  To learn more about the weekend, click here.
If you have any questions, email Easton or Zach

Evensong for Bishop Alexander
Bishop Alexander Sunday, September 30 at 4:00 pm

A Choral Evensong liturgy will be offered in thanksgiving for the ministry of the Rt. Rev. J. Neil Alexander at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Cathedral of St. Philip. All people of the diocese are invited to participate in the liturgy and a reception that follows in Child Hall.   St. Columba's will be one of the parish choirs singing at this festive evensong.

Bishop Alexander steps down as our Diocesan Bishop in October after 11 years of service as the ninth bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta. The celebration will include a special guest preacher, the performance of a choral anthem commissioned for the event, and, during the reception, the unveiling of a portrait of Bishop Alexander.

United Thank Offering
Sunday, September 23
This Sunday will be UTO Ingathering.  The UTO is a program of The Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole Church, founded by and administered by women since 1889. The donations gathered from every parish church twice each year help provide grants for the spreading of the mission of the Church.  Click here to learn more about the work of the UTO.
Calling All Acolytes - New & Old
We're in need of acolytes to serve once a month at the 9:00 and 11:15 Masses on Sundays.  If you are in the 3rd - 12th grades, we would love for you to join the ministry of our wonderful acolytes.  You can sign up on Sunday mornings using the form in the bulletin or on the Welcome Table.  We're also asking all current acolytes to fill out a form as well so we can keep our lists up to date.  If you have any questions, just talk with Kristi Parkinson or Father Tripp.

Volunteer
Receptionist
We currently have 4 parishioners who volunteer at the front desk from 10am-2pm Monday thru Thursday.  We would like to have 3 more volunteers: 1 to share Mondays, 2 to share Tuesdays and 1 to share Thursdays. These wonderful volunteers help answer the parish telephone and serve as an administrative assistant for Father Tripp and Daniel.  If you are interested or have questions, please get in touch with Linda Sammons at (678)230-7760 or sammonslm@bellsouth.net.
