Are you new to St. Columba's?  Would you like to know more about the parish or the Episcopal Church?  If so, please plan to come to the next Newcomer's Reception on Sunday, September 23.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the parish, our many ministries, the Episcopal Church, as well as to meet Father Tripp and several members of the parish vestry.  You can sign up by calling or emailing the parish office or on Sunday mornings at the Welcome Table in the Narthex.  You can also sign up online via the link below.
F.E.A.S.T. Groups Forming for Fall
Kick-Off Gathering: Sunday, September 16 @ 6pm

Feast Groups are starting up again for the Fall! FEAST is a great way to really get to know your fellow parishioners and welcome new ones to St. Columba through fellowship, food and fun. There will be a Kick-Off Social at St. Columba's this Sunday, September 16, at 6:00 pm. This is a chance to learn more about Feast Groups and get acquainted with your group. Groups of 8 - 10 persons (couples and singles) meet once a month or so and rotate houses or restaurants until all have hosted.

The Different Groups: REGULAR - Share fellowship and meals at homes:  (1) RESTAURANT - Fellowship often begins at homes and meals are shared at restaurants; and, (2) FAMILY - Fellowship and meals at homes.  Children are welcome and sitters are arranged by  the host family.  For home groups, everyone brings a part of the meal so no one is responsible for the whole meal.  For more information or to sign up, you can email Linda Williams or sign up at the Welcome Table after Mass.

If you have furniture or rummage sale items to drop off, a secure storage bin has been set up on site.  Contact Father Tripp or Jim Lambert to schedule delivery (you can also bring it with you to Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday mornings).

Parish Breakfast - This Sunday
Sunday, September 16, 8:30-11:00 am The Knights of Columba will be serving another delicious breakfast this coming Sunday from 8:30-11:00 am.  The cost is only $3 per person; $10 max per family.  The Knights of Columba serve breakfast on the 3rd Sunday of every month.  All men of the parish are heartily invited to join one of the breakfast teams.  Each of our teams comes up in the rotation about 3 times a year.  So it's not a huge commitment and a great way to get to know some others in the parish and have a lot of fun too!  To find out more about the Knights of Columba and/or to join a breakfast team, talk to anyone in the kitchen Sunday or email Nathan Martin (click here).
Don't Forget to Help Stock the Food Pantry
As you do your grocery shopping, don't forget to help those in need and buy non-perishable food items for the local food pantry ministry at The Place in Forsyth and Emmaus House, our Diocesan mission in Atlanta.  The ingathering is always the 3rd Sunday of each month, but food can be dropped off at anytime.     Click Here For More Information >>
Two New Faces @ St. Columba's
welcome Welcome Ben Day and Zach Perry! We welcome to St. Columba's staff Ben Day and Zach Perry.
Ben Day is a senior seminarian at Emory's Candler School of Theology.  He is a member of the Church of the Epiphany in Decatur and has been assigned to St. Columba's for his contextual education requirement.  He will be with us for the 2012-2013 school year.  As a senior, he has progressed from postulancy and is now a candidate for ordination upon his graduation in May.
Zach Perry is a college freshman and has joined our parish staff wearing "two hats" of sorts.  He will be our assistant for communications.  So the weekly emails, printed monthly newsletter that will soon begin arriving in your mailboxes, and the screen promotions in the Narthex will be his responsibility.   Parish ministry coordinators will become familiar with Zach in the coming weeks, for sure!  Zach will also be assisting our Youth Director, Easton Davis, with the EYC program.  He will be in the office one weekday and then on Sundays. Zach grew up in this diocese and is a member of Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church in Clarksville, GA.  He currently lives in Gainesville.  You can reach Zach through the parish office or via email.
Ben and Zach will be available during this Sunday's parish breakfast.  Please join in welcoming both Ben and Zach to St. Columba's!
