Parish Life & Outreach Ministries
Breakfast Sunday
Sunday, July 15
Our next parish breakfast will be this coming Sunday, July 15 from 8:30 am until 11:00 am.  The cost is only $3 per person, with a maximum of $10 per family.  Enjoy the fellowship that makes St. Columba's such a warm, Spirit-filled parish while enjoying some of the tastiest breakfast treats that our men's ministry, our own Knights of Columba, are whipping up in the kitchen!
Food Pantry Support Needed
3rd Sunday Ingathering - This Weekend
In June, we delivered 151 pounds of food to the local food pantry at the Place in Forsyth.  This month's food donations will be delivered to Emmaus House in Atlanta.  The summer months are the busiest for food pantry programs as the demand is always high in July and August.  So please remember these local ministries as you do your own grocery shopping.  Canned goods, spaghetti sauce and pastas, canned meats, instant oatmeal, and box-shelf milk will help those in need the most.  You can place your donations in the large blue bin near the welcome table.  Thank you for your continued support!
Rector's Sabbatical Study
Father Tripp is away on a sabbatical study and will return to the parish office on August 1. We are very grateful to Father Roger Ard who has been covering the Sunday Mass schedule and to our parish deacons (Deacon Dick Costin, Deacon Diane Millott, and Deacon Bob Millott) who continue covering pastoral calls and home communions!
Should you have a pastoral emergency or need to speak with one of the deacons or a priest, call the parish office first, or call (770) 861-6399 and leave a message on the voice mail.  Your message will be forwarded to one of the parish deacons.  Of course, please feel free to contact our parish wardens as well Ron Kraynick and Lorraine Ferguson(click here).

Confirmation Classes Begin August 5
The Sacrament of Confirmation is the rite by which we make a mature profession of our faith before the Bishop and take on responsibility for our faith and membership in the Church.  This is an important sacrament for everyone.  If you are new to the Episcopal Church, if you're new to the parish even, or if you in high school and have not yet been confirmed, you should participate in this year's Confirmation Preparation Class (also known as the Inquirer's Class).  Classes begin on Sunday August 5.  More information, schedule, and an online sign-up can be found on the parish website.  Confirmation Mass will be Sunday, September 9 at 11:15 am here at St. Columba's during Bishop Alexander's annual visit to the parish.

Sunday School Teachers Needed

Information Meeting:  August 4 or August 8
Even though we are in the midst of the summer break, it's time to begin preparing for our coming year of Sunday school!  Teachers are needed for the elementary school grades especially.  If you would be interested in being part of this year's team of teachers, we would love to have you!  No experience is necessary; all teachers work in teams of 3 or 4 per class.  Training and an overview of the curriculum will be provided on Saturday, August 4 from 3:00-4:00 pm and also on Wednesday, August 8 from 6:30-7:30 pm.  If you have any questions, please speak with any of last year's teachers, Linda Reid, or Catherine Bonnet.  Please prayerfully consider joining this growing, vital ministry of the parish!

Emmaus House
Emmaus House Outreach Project
We had such a great time at Church of the Common Ground on July 8! We all could feel God's Spirit as we took part in the service and extended a helping hand by providing lunch for the homeless. It was an amazing experience, and it was so awesome doing it in a youth group that cares so much!
Let us use that fire from last weekend to fuel our hearts as we start our next service work project! We will be heading to Atlanta to provide service work for Emmaus House! This charity works to provide anything they can for poverty stricken areas in Atlanta. Emmaus House is a true God given charity that works to help children in Atlanta that come from broken homes.
We will leave from St. Columba's at 12:00 PM on July 17 - but we're not driving the entire way there.  Once we are in the area we will park and challenge ourselves to use the Marta bus system to find our way to a local grocery store and go and purchase food for the Emmaus House food pantry.  This experience will not only help strengthen our church community, but it will also show us all how grateful we should be to have the everyday commodities God has provided for us.  This will be our last outreach project for the summer and a hand-on, experiential living out of what we've learned during our summer Bible study "Get Uncomfortable ... in Jesus' Name!"
Bring around $15 dollars to buy food for Emmaus House. and a sack lunch for yourself.  This day is going to be awesome so sign up for it and remember we are doing this to HELP other Christian communities in need! And as our saying this summer has gone... SUIT UP & SHOW UP!      >>MORE INFO & REGISTER
