Jing, Jing Will Save or Make You Cha Ching

What language am I speaking?  Jing -  A easy, useful  tool. Cha Ching - Money.  So the message translates to - An easy, useful tool that will save you money.  How?  Better communication.

So much of the time, in so many companies, the biggest problem is miscommunication between teams.  I'm thinking that Jing might just be the thing (sorry about the rhyme), to better explain concepts and designs, particularly if you have teams that work both in the office and remotely. Just think how it might help people to have a  recording available for  reference to gain a better understanding of something while they are collaborating. Wow, just think if you could stop repeating yourself by having the ability to have a video play over and over again so you don't have to!

Jing is a product of TechSmith.  And for my money, TechSmith is just one of those companies that seems to get it right for so many reasons.  We rely heavily on their Snagit product as I know many of you do.  Camtasia is one of their tools that is great for screen recording and making videos. Jing is somewhat of a neutered Camtasia and that's ok, because it's simple to use and free. Click here to see a video I did while in the middle of writing this.

Like Snagit, it's best to have Jing sitting in your toolbar ready to instantly capture images and record video to share with anyone.   It's a great tool for adding simple, yet really handy visual elements to your online conversations.  Just think how easy it could be to "show" someone how to do something through a quick clip.  And if it's something that they might want to refer to again, they just play and play and play.  Think how much more impact your messages can have by showing locations, aerials or property highlights and/or problems from images and searches you have on your computer.  You might even see if it works to get across complex ideas to several individuals rather than trying to schedule everyone at the same time for conference calls and online meetings.

We all know that words are sometimes just not enough - and certainly not all that efficient.  I think you'll find it marvelous that you get a well-featured screen capture app that's visual enough for non-techies to use and has enough features to easily distribute recordings and images that require only limited post-capture modifications.  Have fun, but more importantly see if Jing can make you a better communicator and save you time and therefore money.  I'd love to see something you "captured!"
