TOP OF THE WEEK TO YOU!
(by realwired! CEO, Brenda Dohring Hicks)

Brenda Dohring Hicks

Top of the Week to You! is designed to offer the inside scoop and latest of what's important in the world of technology as it relates to the commercial real estate industry.

Simply Thanks

You know how you don't know what you don't know?  It was with that in mind, together with my thoughts on prioritization and its importance, which made me write what I did last week.  And believe me, from your responses I learned a little bit more about what I don't know.

First of all, I'm always shocked by the number of responses I get from you, my readers.  Some of you that have responded to me in the past know that I sometimes tell you how humbled I am by the responses I get.  In general, your advice was to keep RealWired! News coming to you much in the format it is.  So I will.  I learned a little bit about how many of you prioritize reading something like RealWired! News, which was also helpful.  I especially appreciated the people who told me they don't read it typically on the day that it comes in, but they mark or save it to read later before they clean out their inboxes.  Wow, that's great organization.

I especially liked that some of you took me up on the "do you want to know more..." and asked some really cool and thought provoking questions.  Some of you wanted to know a little bit more about Real Wired!, how it came to be, who we are, what we do and why we do it.  As a result, I found myself in some e-mail communications, as well as some phone conversations, about the commercial real estate industry and its adoption or lack thereof of technologies that can have a positive impact.  That was really fun.

Some of you were curious about our appraisal background and the focus on some of those software products, including DataComp & EDGE.  Some of you picked up on the fact that the main column written in the DataComp Newsletter is done by my husband, Jeff Hicks.  I'm one fortunate woman.

The appraisal products were the first ones we developed over a dozen years ago and we are fortunate to have thousands of users that rely on them daily.  Those same products have their own set of issues that have nothing to do with the products themselves, but have everything to do with implementation.  As a result, we recently launched RealWired! Consulting to take people from just buying the software to assisting them with general productivity processes.  I'm not sure why we waited so long.  From working with so many small businesses for so long, we should have recognized the need and done something earlier.  Our lesson learned.

So for the most part, I just want to give a simple thanks to all of my readers, and a special thanks to those who specifically responded last week.  I picture you each week as I sit down to talk and that's how I get it done.  Thanks. I'll talk to you next week.
