Greetings!
Have you noticed our new streamlined newsletter format?  Over the last 2 months we've been working to bring you a better newsletter.  Now every month you will find the same features in the same places, including the Broadway Buzz, the Did You Know?, Behind the Scenes, and the Community Calendar.  Let us know what you think!

In the mean time, we hope you come down to Broadway this month to see new awnings, Broadway's first street event, and the groundbreaking on East Somerville's new state of the art ceramics center!!

Warmly,
Carrie Dancy   --- Director, East Somerville Main Streets

Behind the Scenes

ESMS is excited to welcome our new project assistant:
Storefront Lights
Hi everyone! My name is Jen Wheaton and I'm currently a student at Northeastern University, majoring in International Affairs with a Minor in Spanish.  I'm a member of the directing board of the Peace through Play student organization at North Eastern. We work very closely with some of the communities in Boston, so I'm excited to get to know the community here better! The projects and events that are coming up are amazing and I can't wait for what the next six months will bring! I look forward to meeting and working with all of you.

Did You Know...?

...that our website features the final product of the market assessment done about East Broadway?

After two committees, dozens of volunteer hours, and one grant for an economic development consultant, we have a complete analysis of what the business district currently offers and what would make it even better for business owners, residents and visitors alike! So what is the breakdown of the different demographics in our neighborhood? And what are the business opportunities like along Broadway? Check out the market assessment and find out!

 Neighbor of the Month

Los Paisanos, one of ESMS' newest business members, is one of the sponsors for the upcoming SomerStreets event and the July neighbor of the month!

The owners, Orlando and his wife Marlene, are hard at work in this El Salvadorian restaurant along Broadway. Their menu is extremely broad with every El Salvadorian dish you can think of for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Fun fact about their menu: they wanted to put pictures on their menu so they actually made every single dish and took a picture of it. What you see is what you get! Make sure to stop by Los Paisanos (62 Broadway) for some authentic Salvadorian cuisine!
