Volunteer of the Month!
Renee Polcaro, resident and
property owner in East Somerville, is the
featured ESMS April Volunteer! She has been a dedicated and enthusiastic
volunteer ever since she moved into the East Somerville
community several years ago. Renee took on the role of leading the First
Tuesdays committee and has seen First Tuesdays from just an idea to a
successful 6 month run of events. First Tuesdays is now beginning its second
year and Renee has been working hard to make the second time around a continued
success.
Thanks to all of our volunteers - They make our world go round!

Somerville Road Runners Stay True to East Somerville Roots
The Somerville Road Runners (SRR) are changing the course of their Thursday night run. After almost 15 years of hosting their 4.13 mile run, they have decided that crossing RT 28 twice in the dark of night is too dangerous. The start location has shifted from the former Khoury's to the front of the Dunkin Donuts! BUT no worries, the group is staying true to their East Somerville Roots and is still basing the run out of East Somerville's Casey's.
To launch the new course, SRR is planning a Pasta Party and celebration Thursday, April 15, just days before the Boston Marathon. ALL ARE WELCOME.Arrive at 7pm to
participate in the 4.13 mile run and 8pm for the pasta party. Runners and non-runners are
welcome!
Contact Karin Turer at oberon119@hotmail.com for more information.
Also check out our blogfor the full story of the SRR!

St. Benedict's Takes to The Streets
Did you notice a large group of
people walking around the streets? One of East Somerville's biggest cultural events happened last Friday - on the streets of East Somerville.
Every year St Benedict's puts on a dramatization to celebrate
Easter. The celebration begins on Franklin
St and continues throughout the streets of the
neighborhood until they end at the St. Benedict's church. There were
about 300 people who participated in
the dramatization and procession.
