East Somerville Main Streets: Past, Present, and Future

East Somerville Main Streets has been in this neighborhood for three years now, but does anyoneStorefront Lights
really know where we came from? Maybe it's time to back up and provide some history. ESMS is actually apart of a national movement working to revitalize downtowns all across the US. Visit our
blog to learn more!

For a local example of how effective Main Streets programs can be in improving business districts, check out this Metro article about the successes in Union Sq.

Fresh from the Oven

If you haven't checked out East Somerville's newest pizza place (and the ONLY one beyond
Friends Pizza 2Washington Street!), now is the time. Friends Pizzeria, at 38 Cross St, hand prepares all of their pizzas so you know they are good! Asif Loghi and Ronaldo Gomes opened the pizzeria just six months ago after owning a Kolache restaurant in Houston, TX for 12 years! Their best seller is the Friends Pizza with olives, feta and spinach. Check out our blog to read more about the two friends.

Broadway's Sovereign Welcomes A New Manager

The new year welcomes a new manager at Sovereign Bank. Antonio Pineda came to East Somerville late last year.  He came from the East Boston Sovereign branch, where he had been for nearly a decade. Antonio served on the East Boston Main Streets' board of directors and looks forward to contributing some of the great ideas he gained to East Somerville.  Whether you're a Sovereign customer or not, drop in and welcome him to our neighborhood!

Support the Census

Census Picture

Want to make sure that Somerville gets all the State and Federal resources that we deserve and are proportionate to our population?  MAKE SURE ALL SOMERVILLIANS COMPLETE THE CENSUS!

Come out to the official launch of Somerville's Complete Count Committee (CCC)! The CCC is a volunteer driven committee dedicated to increasing awareness of the census and motivating residents to respond.

The census is vital to East Somerville's future so make sure you come out on Friday, February 12th at 9am in the Alderman Chambers at City Hall. Breakfast and coffee will be served. Please RSVP as soon as possible with Daniel Hauck at dhauck@somervillema.gov or 617-625-6600 x2587.
