Back to School at Mudflat

Mudflat Pottery School's Fall Semester begins September 9. They are offering classes for adults in working on the pottery wheel, handbuilding, tilemaking and clay sculpture. They also have afterschool and Saturday classes for kids, and one-time weekend workshops for parents and children together. A complete listing of classes and workshops is on their website.

First Tuesdays - Another Success!



A great time was had by all at Fasika last week. Both the food and the company were outstanding! Thank you to Fasika for being such a generous host.

The City of Somerville is offering a Best Retail Practices program in conjunction with Graber Marketing to help retailers and restaurateurs improve their businesses.

Learn how your store can look better, sell more products, and attract new customers.

Here's information on the FREE workshop:
DATE: Monday, September 28, 2009
TIME: 10:00 A.M.
LOCATION: City Hall, Board of Aldermen Chambers, 2nd Floor

Topics include:
  • visual merchandising
  • store management
  • marketing
  • layout and design
12 stores will be selected to receive free one-on-one consulting sessions with a retail consultant AND up to $2000 to make improvements but many of the ideas can be done for FREE so EVERYONE will take home great information!

Elio's "Red Manhattan" Recipe:
  - 2 parts red stag Jim Beam
  - 1/2 part Dry Vermouth
  - 1/2 part Sweet Vermouth

Prepare in a shaker over ice.  Strain into a Martini glass with a long-stem black cherry.  Garnish
