Cool Down on Broadway
beverage

The summer is finally heating up.  Searching for a cool treat?  Look no further than East Broadway!  Local restaurants have a wide variety of sweet treats to cool you off and please your taste buds.

Here are some ways to keep your cool:

  • Head to Louie's Ice Cream for a scoop of their delicious new double-dutch chocolate ice-cream.
  • Try Central American specialty horchata, a cool rice-based drink sweetened with cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla, found at Taco Loco, Montecristo, Los Paisanos or Maya Sol.
  • In the mood for something fruity?  Sample one of Rodizio Brazilian Steakhouse's fruit juices or fruit poulps such as suco de cajú (cashew juice) or the açai fruit poulp.
  • Stop by Tony's Foodland for a "minuta," the Central American version of slush - shaved ice made to order with a great variety of flavors and fixins including pineapple sauce or condensed milk.
Hope you have a very East Somerville Summer!

They have compiled a list of concerns and requests, and also suggestions of how to make your voice heard. In fact, there is a public hearing this Thursday, August 13th, 6pm at City Hall.
Under the Stars - International Movie Nights

Check our website for a sneak preview of this year's movie selections, to be officially announced later this week!  This year the event is moving to SATURDAY nights in September (from their historic Friday nights) to give neighbors and fans an opportunity to enjoy Saturday September street parties before each movie.

Project MUM

Project MUM, an open-air dance party under McGrath Highway, is scheduled for Saturday, Aug 29th. This year's event is an intergalactic space odyssey featuring four hours of music, video mashups, and dance-offs. You won't have to travel to a galaxy far, far away to find the best Saturday night dance scene; this gritty urban space odyssey is only minutes away from Union Square.

Particpants are encouraged to come in their best space attire!

An ArtsUnion Event presented by The Somerville Arts Council and ARTSomerville.
