First Tuesdays to Launch!
Starting on April 7th, on the first Tuesday of every month, ESMS will be hosting neighborhood after hours events for you to get out in the neighborhood and have fun!  Events are free, cash bar.

Fresh Vegetables 

 The Veggies Are Back!

East Somerville CSA Accepting Registrations

Did you love having fresh vegetables for pickup in East Somerville all last summer?  Farmer Dave's Farm is coming back for a successful 2nd year with their Somerville CSA (Community Supported Agriculture).

How it works: You buy a membership and pick up fresh vegetables once a week for 18 weeks!  Cost comes out to between $20-$30 / wk / share (shares can be split).  Download Registration Forms Here

Broadway Rezoning
Community Meeting

Storefront Lights
The City of Somerville is hosting a community meeting to discuss the rezoning of Broadway from just above the Star Market to the city line at Sullivan Square. New zoning for the area will determine what types of uses will be acceptable in coming years. Also to be discussed: how to use zoning to stimulate stronger neighborhoods and business districts.  Date:  March 24th, 6pm, 165 Broadway - Senior Center

 Getting Ready For Spring

East Branch Library:
There are opportunities for fun for all ages at the East Branch Library this spring.  Starting April 1st, join the Collective Poem Project -All patrons are invited to add a line to the collective poem they will be writing in honor of National Poetry Month. Earth Day Celebrations Join the East Branch for Earth-friendly stories & poems at 11:00 a.m., & craft table between 12:00 and 5:00 p.m!     And there are still opportunities to become an ESL tutor on Monday nights. Interested in Improving Sullivan Square? - The City of Boston is hosting a meeting to discuss design alternatives for the Rutherford Avenue corridor south of Sullivan Square on Monday, March 23 from 6:00-8:00PM at the Knights of Columbus at 75 West School Street in Charlestown.  Design Alternatives can be seen here.

Spring Cleaning

East Somerville Clean Up

May 9th

Teaming up with the City Clean-Up effort on May 9th, East Somerville Main Streets is launching a full scale East Somerville Clean- Up the same day!  We will be cleaning Broadway, and some of East Somerville's principal streets.

Saturday, May 9th, 10:00 am -1:00pm, Meet 10:00am at the Capuano School, 150 Glen St.

CELEBRATE AFTER:  Join your friends and neighbors afterward for a thank you party sponsored by Casey's Bar, starting at 1:15 pm. If interested in volunteering, please rsvp to cleanup@eastsomervillemainstreets.org

Successful Annual Meeting

East Somerville Main Streets would like to thank all those who came out for our 2nd Annual Meeting on March 9th.  Attended by nearly 60 people, the East Somerville Community rallied together to ring in our second year!  Special thanks to our key note speaker, Ben Grossman.  As well as Patsy's Pastry and the Mt. Vernon Restaurant who generously supported the event.

  A New Bright Spot Along Broadway


Petals in Paradise, a new neighborhood florist, opened on Feb. 14th just in time to bring some love to Broadway!  The new store offers flowers, balloons, gifts - including many handicrafts and jewelry from the owner Iris Monge's native El Salvador as well as assistance with event planning and decor.  The business is family owned and the staff is bilingual.
