News from the President - Wayne Watkins
watkinsGreetings from the University of Akron.  As the newly appointed UEDA President, I would like to express my gratitude for your enthusiastic support of Summit 2008.  We had a great Summit and those who attended participated in much fruitful networking with colleagues from across the country.  Congratulations to all of the finalists and winners of the Awards of Excellence.  Thank you to all of our partner and sponsor organizations who helped to make the Summit so successful.   Special thanks to our Silver Sponsor, TEK Systems, a premier technology staffing and services company nationwide.

I would also like to congratulate UEDA's new officers and board members.  As time goes by, please keep in touch with UEDA's Officers and Board members and continue to let us know how we can improve UEDA's member services.

Please join me in welcoming more new members to UEDA!

Information from the Executive Director

leslie pacholMark your calendars for Summit 2009.  Next year's Summit will be held at the Westin RiverWalk in San Antonio, Texas on October 11-13, 2009.   Save the dates.  You won't want to miss Summit 2009!

It's about that time - - - UEDA annual membership fees are due soon.  After several years of the annual dues remaining the same, the Board of Directors has determined that it is necessary to raise the annual dues for 2009.   I'll send you information in a week or so about paying your dues by credit card online or by check through the mail.  Annual dues for 2009 will be $495 with an early bird rate of $425 if dues are paid by January 31, 2009.  The Board of Directors also established a membership rate for retirees who are no longer working in economic development institutions.  Retirees may join UEDA for just $100 annually.

New bylaws were adopted this fall. Take a few moments to read over the bylaws posted on the web site.

Happy Holidays to you and your families!
