TU redesignated an EDA University Center by Commerce Department
TU will use $300,000 in grants to continue providing economic development services in western Maryland and Baltimore city
TOWSON, Md. - For a second consecutive competitive cycle, the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration has designated Towson University an EDA University Center and has awarded TU grants totaling $300,000 for the next three years.

MD iMap Building One Map for One Maryland
On August 3, 2008, Maryland's Governor Martin O'Malley gave the keynote speech at the ESRI Executive Leadership Seminar during ESRI's annual user conference in San Diego.
Top-level executives from around the world who attended the seminar heard Governor O'Malley say "...just as mapping was central to our ability to set goals, track performance, and engage in relentless follow-up in Baltimore, it is becoming a major part of everything we are doing at the State level. And because we recognize this, we're using ESRI's software to develop a single, statewide base-map, not only of the Bay, but of our entire State."

 "Learning is the only thing that never fails." So said T.H. White in The Once and Future King. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Towson University is doing its part to assist persons over age 50 in continuing to learn. Founded as the Auburn Society in 1999 as a self-supporting, membership organization, the Institute took its current name when it received the first of three grants from the Bernard Osher Foundation in 2006.
