The farm bill entitled the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008, was passed overwhelmingly (House vote 318-106 and Senate 81-15) by Congress the week of May 12 but was promptly vetoed by President Bush. However, on May 21, the US House voted 316-108 and the Senate 82-13 to override the veto. This was the President's ninth veto and the first one to be overridden by Congress. read more>>
