If you live in Maryland and own property or a business, you have had dealings with the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT).  According to the Department's mission statement SDAT is charged "...to promote fairness in taxation for Maryland property owners by uniformly appraising all taxable property at market value, certifying property values to local governments, and offering programs of property tax relief and business services in a manner that is courteous and convenient".

TU Designated as a National Center for Excellence in Information Assurance Education
NSAThe National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have re-designated Towson University as a Center of Excellence in Information Assurance Education, for academic years 2008 through 2013.

TU initially received this designation in 2002 and was first re-designated in 2005. TU reapplied again and was successfully evaluated against strengthened criteria.

EEOL Expands Training Manuals and Course Conversion Expertise
lectora Over the past year the Extended Education and Online Learning (EEOL) division has been working with the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) to develop and maintain a web based eLearning system for the first responders of the state. EEOL acquired the Lectora® software package, provided by Tivantis® in order to implement this site wide eLearning management system. This highly acclaimed tool, used by more than 60% of Fortune 100 companies, provides an environment that will allow all the first responder users to receive distance learning on refresher courses, workshops and seminars relating to their duties, as well as online classes that could be used for certification purposes.
