DECO Appoints New Vice President
|
|
Dyan Brasington
Towson University announced the appointment of Dyan Brasington as Vice President of the Division of Economic and Community Outreach (DECO). The appointment of Ms. Brasington completes a four-month search process and review of 50 candidates by the search committee.
Ms. Brasington has led DECO, in the role of Associate Vice President, since August 2007. From 2004 to 2007, she was Director, Economic and Workforce Development in DECO. Prior to joining Towson University, she was President of the Technology Council of Maryland and served as Economic Development Director in Howard County, Montgomery County and Prince William County, Virginia, and was a development representative in the State of Florida Department of Commerce.
Ms. Brasington has a B.S. in Marketing from Florida State University and a M.A. in Speech Communications from Florida State University. She will assume her new position on April 2, 2008.

Creating Real-Time Situational Awareness with EMMA ©, the Emergency Management Mapping Application © In an emergency, precise, timely communication is absolutely essential. Thanks to GIS and Web technologies, dynamic maps offer common operating pictures that not only deliver precise information faster than the spoken word, but also can be shared by multiple jurisdictions across a range of emergency management communities. Maps that integrate layers of disparate geospatial data provide situational awareness about vital issues such as traffic conditions, hospital bed availability, real-time weather conditions, and the number and locations of shelters.
Responding to the obvious need for an application capable of creating maps-common operating pictures-with real or near real time data, the Center for GIS (CGIS) developed EMMA©, the Emergency Management Mapping Application©.

DotNetNuke The newest addition to the RESI software development tool kit is DotNetNuke (DNN). This will allow RESI developers to deliver fully featured web portal style applications quickly and at lower costs. DNN also incorporates a straightforward approach to content management that will allow users to maintain their own content in such things as text areas, photo galleries, event calendars and other functions.
DotNetNuke is an open-source Web Application Framework ideal for creating and deploying projects such as commercial websites, corporate intranets and extranets, online publishing portals, and custom vertical applications.
