Dear Friends,
Happy 6th Birthday to the FBEA!
The FBEA was born on May 16th, 2006. Thank you to every single one of you for your help in growing this network for farm-based educators. Onward!
Summer is here and you are about to be as busy as it gets. Take a
few minutes to peruse this Newsletter. Highlights include two perspectives from network members doing great work:
Josh Slotnick (PEAS Farm Director and University of Montana Professor) weighs in on College Farms.
Emily Hoyler (Curriculum Specialist with the Sustainable Schools Project) sheds some light on the new Common Core State Standards. Also in this issue:
- Access to the recorded webinar: Social Media for Farms to Generate Education, Awareness, and Action
- Professional
development events and opportunities - Informative blogs, materials, and articles
- Jobs in Hawaii, California, and New Hampshire
- A glorious radish recipe
Have a great summer season. I, along with the FBEA Team, look forward to connecting at a Gathering, Webinar, Call-In, Workshop, Conference, or in the Discussion Forum.
Stay cool out there!
Sincerely,

Director of Communications and Development

FBEA Website 101
| |
One of the primary goals of this network is to connect farm-based educators to share information and resources. There is a VERY good chance that someone else in this community has solved a problem you are struggling with or is doing something really well and would happily share their model - be it summer camp pricing, farm safety for your visitors, farm-to-school implementation, etc. The FBEA Network is also a great place to spread the word about Events and Job Opportunities.
Here are 2 graphic images to highlight how the FBEA website can help build the network and encourage information sharing. As always, Mike Roman, FBEA Social Media Coordinator, is standing by to help and answer questions.

*And as always, as long as you follow . . .
If you are an online network member, you can FOLLOW the discussions in the forum. This allows you to receive updates when new discussions or materials have been added to the forum.
Here's how:
2. Scroll aaallllll the way down to the bottom of the page and click the "Follow" link next to the little email envelope. Here's a picture to help you out:
