Hello everyone!

Here's hoping you are all enjoying the summer months - the weather has been so fabulous! We have managed to keep pretty busy here at the office, as September is fast approaching and it is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!!

There are a few initiatives underway to help us raise both funds for programs and services, but also to raise the profile of childhood cancer. We really need your help and support to ma

ke it the success it truly can be.

On Thursday September 15th, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson is proclaiming Childhood Cancer Awareness Day in the City of Ottawa. We are looking for Ambassador Families

to participate, so please, join us. Contact us here in the office if you are able to be there between 5 - 6 pm OR if you're participating in the Inside Ride. It's all happening as part of the National Inside Ride Tour.                                      (www.theinsideride.com/national-tour/) that we are so fortunate to be part of. Max Keeping will be our Master of Ceremonies for the event that will run from 4 - 7 pm.

I urge you to please put a team together for this event. Grab five of your best friends, colleagues or family members and join us on

Childhood Cancer Awareness Day at City Hall. Give yourselves a catchy name, crazy costumes (or not) and register your team online today. Medals for Top Team Spirit, Best Team Costume, Top Team Mileage and Top Team Fundraising are up for grabs, so check out the video and get pumped for the Inside Ride. Every dollar raised stays with Candlelighters! www.ottawa.theinsideride.com

Scotiabank Branches in Ottawa west and up the valley are partnering with Candlelighters for the "Light a Candle of Hope" campaign from September 12 - 30th. This is an opportunity for us to raise funds for programs and services, awareness but also to showcase a great community partner in Scotiabank and the fabulous painting of our Smiling Siblings Watercolour Workshops. Together with donation boxes, there will be four different bookmarks at each of the teller wickets which feature a quick Candlelighters fast fact and some artwork. Please visit Scotiabank and show your support! www.lightacandle.ca

The 2nd Annual "Where there's Light, there's Hope" Gala Dinner is taking place on Wednesday September 14th at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. Spend the evening with friends and colleagues, enjoy a delicious meal and show your support of Candlelighters. Tickets are $125 each and includes a $50 charitable tax receipt.

CANDLELIGHTERS HAS REACHED ANOTHER MILESTONE! Our membership is now 305 families! This is the first time that we have surpassed the number three hundred. For some, that might not seem like a good thing - but for us here it means that members are choosing to stay part of the Candlelighters family after treatment is complete!

Programs and Services Update
