III. Poor Furniture Placement
Furniture placement and good space planning is essential to giving a room that pulled together and funcitional vibe you are looking for.

Furniture placed in walkways or traffic areas - make sure you can walk through the room unobstructed by furniture.
The Remedy:

Bring that furniture in a little and make a space feel cozy

If you float the furniture in the middle of the room, anchor it (for example, use a rug).

Analyze traffic flow and make sure the layout works

Use space planning tools to determine what furniture should go where before you buy it or move it, this is also helpful (this will also save lots of money)

Invest in sliders (I call them my $12 moving men)

Before and After!
One of our recent makeovers, took this outdated kitchen from bland to fantastic! Instead of a whole new kitchen this client opted to take a conservative approach to kitchen remodeling. We saved the cabinets by painting them, rebuilt the island, replaced flooring, countertops, backsplash and added new lighting and appliances.
