Do you need to hire a decorator for your project?
That depends... on you, on your available free time, patience, creativity or lack thereof, list of resources, interest, and much more. Here are some guidelines to help you decide if you should hire a professional.
You might want to hire a professional if...
- You have little or no free time to coordinate and shop for home decor items.
- You feel completely overwhelmed by the number of choices available.
- You need help with space planning, furniture choices, kitchen layouts, or renovations.
- You want someone else to deal with the hassles of ordering, shipping, coordinating, and installing.
- You want to have quality work done but don't have your own list of reliable workmen, installers, and resources.
- You've tried to decorate your home and have purchased a few nice items, but really need help pulling it all together.
- You want a cohesive color scheme and design that can be carried throughout your home.
- You think you have pretty good taste, but would like to move up a few notches in style.

 The Ten Commandments of Decorating will be held Saturday, September 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Westfield Church on Fry Road in Katy. The church has made this seminar available to anyone wishing to come. Come and learn the 10 most common decorating mistakes and how to remedy those mistakes in your home. There will be hors d'oeuvres and a drawing for free accessories along with decorating discounts for everyone who attends. |
Are you a fan of Design on a Dime or Design to Sell? I am. I love to watch the creative ways that shows such as these use small budgets to work miracles in homes. However, there are some misconceptions that these popular TV series leave with their viewers. I frequently have people call and tell me that they want me to come and give their space a makeover just like what they've seen on TV only to be disappointed and even a little put out by the fact that it can't be done.
