Greetings!
I'm involved in a work team that has been developing a process that will result in a huge culture shift for the organization. We are about to unveil one significant piece of this work that has reached completion, and we are planning to celebrate, complete with party hats and horns!! Celebration of the milestones is a critical piece of creating a long-term vision. But it can't end there. As the leader, we have to make sure we keep the team focused on the bull's eye, the long term vision, so that our ultimate goals will be reached, and we don't end up somewhere off course. We work to reach a milestone, celebrate appropriately, and then take steps toward the next milestone. Supervisor 101 is designed to help you, as the leader, stay focused on the bull's eye, and not get derailed by the small stuff. This brand new, on-demand course can be used individually or in a group, and each participant can complete it all at once, or in small increments over several weeks. It's flexible to meet your time and schedule demands. Check out the tip below to help you stay focused on the bull's eye in your leadership role, and check out Supervisor 101 as a great resource for you, or for other leaders in your organization. Take aim, and be straight-shooter!
Unleash the leader within!

MONDAY MORNING LEADERSHIP TIP #172 Focus on the Bull's Eye |
The big-picture purpose for your team, department or organization defines what you are all about, what keeps your business on track. As a leader, you are your organization's visionary, the one who keeps an eye on the far horizon, while creating today's solutions.
Skilled archers can hit the target every time and the bull's eye much of the time. By keeping their focus trained on the right point, their accuracy increases. Likewise, you as a leader increase your team's chances of success when you keep your focus on the big picture.
What are some ways you can keep yourself focused on the big picture, and not get lost in the day-to-day? Consider some possibilities....
- Email a concise description of your organization or team's purpose, as you understand it right now, to those you lead.
- Make a list of ways in which you may have lost focus, and brainstorm ideas for getting back on track.
- Discover more about keeping focused by reading The Power of Focus by Jack Canfield.
- Enlist the help of those you lead to draft individual goals for each person.
- Reconnect this week with someone who exudes a sense of mission and purpose.
- Participate in the Supervisor 101 course and especially assess how you're doing with understanding your own leadership style, and using what you learn to make leadership adjustments where necessary.
For a limited time when you purchase the Supervisor 101 On-Demand training course you'll also receive "10 Survival Tips for New Supervisors." See the details here. |
