MONDAY MORNING LEADERSHIP TIP #153 Leading Through the Holidays: Recognize Accomplishments |
|
As 2009 comes to an end, take a bit of time to acknowledge publicly to your staff what things you have noticed that have happened during the year, especially those things you may not have commented on at all previously.
Focus not just on the things that are public knowledge or have already been announced. They need to know you didn't miss their efforts.
What about a goal that wasn't reached, but a lot of hard work was put into it?
Or perhaps the planning someone put into running meetings -- or creating flyers -- these routine, often unnoticed tasks. Let them know you appreciate them.
Trust is gained and relationships are built a tiny step at a time, often in the midst of the ordinary. Take a moment and surprise someone - recognize an ordinary accomplishment!
