Greetings!

Happy HolidaysNow that the holiday season is in full swing, you may be finding there is "too much to do and too little time!"

It's at these times when we have to make sure we are not neglecting the most important things in our lives - our relationships. That's true not only in our personal lives, but also as a leader.

This is the third week of a five-week tip series focusing on "Leading Through the Holidays - Five Tips to be a Powerful Influence." Today is Tip #3 in this series; check it out. If you missed Tips #1 and 2, you can find it here.

And have a wonderful week!

 MONDAY MORNING LEADERSHIP TIP #151
Leading Through the Holidays: Intentionally Connect

Congratulate your staffAs a leader, you can find yourself drowning during the holidays just like everyone else. But there is a unique opportunity for you to 'raise the bar' with those you work with. It's a time when "cheer is in the air," most certainly. But people are over busy, and their time simply won't stretch far enough.

Your staff are encountering all kinds of people who are short, snappy, and out of patience. It can be a time when emotions are fragile. It's a time when you can unexpectedly make a difference.

Find ways to intentionally work on deepening your relationships with your people; spend time in their home, if appropriate; get to know how they celebrate the holidays. Connect with those you usually don't have time for. Take more time to spend with your co-workers in social settings than usual. Get to know them in a deeper way. You will have to make time for this - by default, you don't have it either. But if you make it a priority to go out of you way to invest more fully in relationship with a person when he or she could use an encouraging word, the benefits can be priceless.
