March 1, 2011

Dear friends,

March and the possibilities are endless! Know why? Because of the amazing friends in our lives. It's said 'A friend is a sister that destiny forgot to give you.'  How true is that?
True friends love us no matter what. We can learn, cry and laugh together.
We are designating March 'Good Friends Month.'  Come and get a duo massage or start taking yoga together...it's a great way to spend quality time while getting into shape!  We have such a fun Sundance community that you are sure to meet new friends here, too!

Real Men Do Yoga!
lebron james

Guess who's in the above picture striking a yoga pose?  Lebron James!  Yup!  And his fellow hoop buddy, Shaq (at 7'1" and almost 300 pounds) also uses yoga for sports training.  In fact, many professional athletes and entire sports teams incorporate yoga into their training.  Whether a pro athlete, fitness enthusiast or weekend warrior, men are embracing yoga!

As the ranks of men grow in yoga classes nationwide and here, at Sundance, men are becoming aware of the many benefits and are getting hooked.  Whether they are introduced by a wife or girlfriend or encouraged by a doctor to reduce back pain and/or stress, they quickly realize the rewards.  Yoga offers something new and challenging to a regular work out routine and builds strength, flexibility, balance and stamina.  Other benefits are injury prevention, stress reduction, improved sleep and better mental concentration.

So, come on, cross over those barriers and find out why so many men are taking up yoga!  Wouldn't you love to be able to touch your toes again?  We have beginner's classes, free mats and props, and phenomenal instructors.  Ladies, forward this newsletter to all the men in your life who would benefit by getting on a mat.  We have an amazing ongoing special for new students...$10 for 10 consecutive days of classes!  Are you up for the challenge?  We triple dog dare ya...

Spring into Your Practice with 108 Sun Salutations!

Saturday, March 19th, 1-3:30 with Debbie
Donations benefit RI ASPCA

Celebrate the start of Spring with an offering to the Sun!
Why 108?  The number 108 has long been considered a sacred number.  Malas, or prayer beads, come as a string of 108 which are used for counting as you repeat a mantra.
It is also viewed as a number of the wholeness of existence.  In addition, the number also connects the Sun, Moon and Earth:  the average distance of the Sun and the Moon to Earth is 108 times their respective diameters.  According to yogic tradition, there are 108 sacred sites throughout India and there are also, 108 sacred places of the body.  Plus, it's fun and one heck of a workout!
