Ramah Service Corps Welcomes
Second Cohort of Interns

Dear Friends of Ramah,
With last year's launch of the Ramah Service Corps (RSC) Initiative, the National Ramah Commission helped to create year-round experiences that bring the magic and spirit of Ramah to communities across North America. We are delighted to introduce the second cohort of Ramah Service Corps interns, who will serve for the 2011-2012 year. The program has grown this year to include 25 interns, an increase of nearly 50% over last year. (Click here for biographical profiles of many of our Ramah Service Corps interns.)
 This initiative of the National Ramah Commission is made possible by a generous grant from the Foundation for Jewish Camp. Interns from across North America will organize at least three Ramah-style Jewish learning programs in their communities; reach out to prospective camper families to encourage them to explore Ramah and other Jewish camps; and maintain relationships with current Ramah families. Our RSC interns, selected with input from the leadership of Ramah's overnight camps, are camp staff members whose work has been extraordinary. Each intern will work closely with both the NRC and a mentor from the regional Ramah camp office.
The interns are thrilled to bring the "magic of Ramah" into their work during the year. Here are some of their responses to the question: "Why are you excited to serve as an RSC intern?" I look forward to connecting with families about Ramah, something that has always been an important and influential part of my life. I hope to impart a sense of what an amazing experience and community Ramah can be. (Tamar Friedman, Poconos)  I now have the opportunity to give back to an organization that has given me so much. I am extremely excited about the opportunity to present children and young adults with the possibilities and experiences Ramah has to offer because I have first-hand knowledge as to how they can change a person's life. I am excited to serve as an RSC intern because I love camp, and now I will have the opportunity to help other people love camp by brining some of the camp ruach (spirit) home and advocating for people to come to camp during the summer. (Laura Silverman, Berkshires)
