Korean Focus of Metro DC offers information and support to families interested in Korean culture and the Korean American community. Our members and friends include adoptive families, adopted Korean Americans, and Korean American families. All are welcome!
Announcing the 2012 Korean Focus Board of Directors

Following is the proposed slate of candidates for the 2012 Korean Focus Board of Directors. By indicating your approval / non-approval of these candidates, you participate in the leadership of this organization, which strives to involve its supporters as much as possible.

Please take a moment to review the slate of candidates and follow these instructions, as described in the Korean Focus by-laws:
  • If you approve the slate of candidates, take no further action.
  • If you do not approve the slate or if you have a write-in candidate, including yourself, contact us via email by midnight ET Thursday, February 2, 2012 to provide your response.

Celebrate the Year of the Black Dragon at the
 Korean Focus - KUMCGW Lunar New Year Celebration
February 4th in McLean, VA

On January 23rd, an auspicious year began in the Asian zodiac: the Year of the Black Dragon.  Dragons are important symbols in Asian mythology and culture, so a dragon year is always cause for celebration.BBecause of the unique combination of the zodiac symbols and five traditional colors, a lucky black dragon year comes only every 60 yearsThis is definitely a year to celebrate, so join the Korean United Methodist Church and Korean Focus for the best Korean Lunar New Year celebration in the Metro DC area!

 

Date & Time: Saturday February 4th, 1 - 4 PM

* Registration opens at 12 noon

Opening Ceremony 1 - 2

Activities and workshops 2 - 3:30

Closing Ceremony and Raffle 3:30 - 4

Korean Refreshments 2 - 4

Welcome and performances of traditional and new Korean music and dance  

 

2:00 - 3:30 PM: Activities
  • Cooking classes
  • Korean refreshments
  • Ginkgo Leaf Arts Korean craft sale
  • Dragon crafts and activities for the kids
  • Korean games for all ages - gonggi, jaegi, tuho (arrow throwing) and more
  • Pebag traditional Korean wedding photos
  • Sebae traditional New Year's bowing
  • Hanbok exchange and sale
  • And lots more!
 
3:45 - 4:00: Closing and Raffle
