IRS Issues New Health Tax Credit Information
The IRS last week took a step closer to providing smaller nonprofits and businesses the mechanism for claiming the health care tax credit enacted as part of the health care reform legislation earlier this year. On September 7, the IRS released a draft Form 8941 which can be used by small tax-exempt organizations and for-profit businesses to calculate their tax savings for providing health insurance coverage for their employees. The IRS also announced that nonprofits can claim the tax credit on a Form 990-T, which will be revised for the 2011 filing season. For more information on the credit, please visit the National Council of Nonprofits.

| Daring to Lead: National Executive Director Study
The Nonprofit Association of Oregon is pleased to announce our participation in the 2011 Daring to Lead Executive Director study. This research project brings together twelve organizations from across the United States to produce a critical mass of data on nonprofit leadership. As one of the national partners for the 2011 Daring to Lead, we will be asking executive directors of nonprofits in our region to participate in this online survey. Watch for it in October.
The 2011 Daring to Lead study builds on two previous studies. In addition to collecting information on succession planning, job satisfaction, generational handoff of leadership, managing a team, and working with boards of directors, the study will further explore how the role of the executive director has evolved over the past five years since the last study. You can read the findings from the 2006 study here. This national study is possible because of a partnership with Meyer Foundation and CompassPoint Nonprofit Services. |
