Eat a healthy light snack before going out for dinner:
When you are invited out for 4 p.m., this is not usually the time that dinner will be served. Here is a chance to socialize and eat snacks before dinner. o'Hdeorves, chips, pretzels and even chocolates may be set out for you to enjoy. If you have already eaten a snack, you will not be tempted to satisfy your hunger with potato chips.

You will perform 30 seconds of intense work followed by 30 seconds of rest (30/30 tabata).
 
Tabata: is the name of a Japanese researcher who discovered an interesting way to increase both anaerobic and aerobic pathways at the same time. It's one of those strange training programs that seems to fit across disciplines: it's excellent for bicyclists, speed skaters, Olympic lifters, or the person looking to lose fat quickly.
 
Today's Circuit:
1. Push-ups
2. Plank
3. Incline Push-ups (place hands on something slightly elevated, head/chest higher than feet)
4. Plank
5. Decline Push-ups (place feet on something slightly elevated, head/chest lower than feet)
6. Hip Lifts (lay on back, knees bent, feet flat on floor. Lift hips up and down as many times in 30 seconds)
 
Perform each exercise for 30 seconds, then 30 seconds rest, 2 complete circuits will be followed by 1 minute of rest.  Repeat 1 time for a killer 25 minute workout.

Don't blame it on your age or gender. Challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone!

Louisiana Spiced Pecans 
 
Ingredients
  • 1 pound pecan halves
  • 1 tablespoon packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon piment d'Espelette, (see Tip) or a pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  
Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Spread pecans on a large baking sheet. Roast until fragrant, about 12 minutes. Watch carefully so they don't burn.
  3. Combine brown sugar, salt, thyme, rosemary, pepper and piment d'Espelette (or cayenne) in a small bowl. Transfer the roasted pecans to a large bowl, drizzle with oil and toss well to coat completely. Sprinkle with the spice mixture and toss again. Serve warm or let cool completely and store in an airtight container.

  • Make Ahead Tip: Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
  • Tip: Piment d'Espelette is a sweet, mildly spicy chile pepper from the Basque region of France, ground into a powder.
