Landscape Night at the PRC Wednesday, January 25, 2011, 6 - 8 p.m. 832 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston Guest Host: Janelle Lynch Open to all photographers interested in landscape photography, in celebration of Janelle Lynch's Los Jardines de México exhibition in the gallery through the end of January.
Presenters can bring prints, show images on their own laptops, or use our projector, and are asked to make a brief statement about their work. Each presenter is asked to limit their presentation to 15 images and 15 minutes. Six presenter slots available per night. Contact the PRC at 617-975-0600 or info@prcboston.org to reserve a presenter slot. Audience members without work are also encouraged to participate, no reservations needed, but must bring their curiosity and open-mindedness. Everyone is welcome to bring refreshments.

Portfolio Reviews with Glenn Ruga Wednesday, January 25, 2012 If you would like to reserve a spot for this month's portfolio review, please call the PRC at 617-975-0600 beginning at 10am on Wednesday, January 18. This opportunity is for PRC members only and is on a first come, first serve basis. Photographers who sign up will be required to send 4-6 jpg images, a resume, and an artist statement to reviews@prcboston.org prior to the review. The images should reflect the work they will be showing. |

IN THE GALLERY Janelle Lynch: Los Jardines de México November 29, 2011 - January 28, 2012 Janelle Lynch, Untitled 7, from the series El Jardin de Juegos. The photographs in Los Jardines de México explore themes related to the life cycle and its representations in the urban and rural landscape. Made between 2002 and 2007, each project investigates, if not embraces, a specific facet of existence: loss, death, regeneration, and life. A doctor visits a patient at the Group of TB Hospitals in Mumbai during daily rounds. Through arresting images, photographers Kristen Ashburn, Dominic Chavez, and David Rochkind document the heavy toll that global health issues take on the developing world. Williard Traub, Recovery 1, 2006. Recovery is a photographic meditation on affliction and rehabilitation by Willard Traub. The work reflects the artist's own experiences battling a rare form of blood cancer, drawing on the strength of his talents as a photographer. Recovery began when Traub was diagnosed with cancer in 2005, and examines his treatment, hospitalization, and recovery process. The images, combined with personal prose and poetry, provide an intimate and hopeful commentary on a disease that signifies much larger life issues. Read more>> |

PRC Announces EXPOSURE 2012: 17th Annual PRC Juried Exhibition Alison Nordström, this year's juror, will select ten photographers to comprise the seventeenth iteration of the PRC's highly regarded annual juried exhibition. Submissions open in late January and are due online March 2, 2012. Alison Nordström is Curator of Photographs and Director of Exhibitions at George Eastman House, the oldest and largest museum of photography in the United States. She was the Founding Director and Senior Curator of the Southeast Museum of Photography in Daytona Beach, Florida from 1991 to 2002. |
Spring Semester Internship Opportunities The PRC offers internships that provide insight into the inner workings of a non-profit visual arts institution. Internship positions available in photography, visual arts, exhibitions, and/or arts administration.
Please submit a cover letter, resume, and two references to Julie Kukharenko. Reference the position for which you are applying. Include why you want to intern at the PRC and what you hope to accomplish.
