 MARCH 2010
Greetings!

Hello from Atlanta under snow - our third snow this winter.

FOR March 3 ONLY - Because the morning weather conditions are questionable, we are going to cancel the Wed 8am class with Hylan.  Instead, you can come take his Wed 12:15p class after the roads are clear and sunny.

This month, there are two changes to the schedule:
  • Wednesday 9:30a with Chris - cancelled.
  • Friday 9:30a - costs only  $10 class
    - taught by the 2010 Yoga Teacher Training grads
In February, we graduated 8 new yoga teachers from our YTT, and I'm very pleased to have them join us at the studio. For the next several months, they will rotate as teachers for the Friday 9:30a class. Welcome to the world of Yoga Teaching:  Chuck, Stacie, Krisy, Vlad, Cheryl, Debbie, Lee, and Astrid.

For more than four years, JSY has offered Pranakriya Yoga trainings with Yoganand Michael Carroll. I am happy to announce that JSY and Decatur Yoga & Pilates are now working together to support Pranakriya Yoga in Atlanta. We will offer 5 certification tracks: 200-hour, 500-hour, Prenatal Teacher Training, Yoga Therapy, and Thai Yoga Therapy with Bill Hufschmidt. I'm excited about this partnership with DYP's owner, Debbie Kelley, and for the future of Atlanta yoga training through Pranakriya.

MARCH MADNESS!!
End your week with extra money in your pocket. All Friday classes in March are $10 each. If you are using a class card, either use one punch, or  pay $10 to take the class).

PARKING AT THE STUDIO:
Please note that the area of Brooks Avenue across from the studio's front door is posted no-parking.  Several neighbors on our street have complained to us about people parking there.  Now I know that area is utilized daily by customers of JSY, as well as Salon Red and My Favorite Mechanic.  On the off chance that someone calls to have cars towed, please make sure you do not park in a No-Parking zone, as well as not blocking any of our neighbors driveways.

TRADE IN YOUR OLD MAT & SAVE $: Is your mat more like a Slip-n-Slide than a sticky mat? Does it look like it was used for mud wrestling even after you've cleaned it? Then it's time for a new mat and JSY can help! Trade in your old mat on the purchase of a new one from JSY and we'll give you a $5 credit toward the new mat. Plus, we'll recycle your old mat for you.  We just ordered over 60 new yoga mats and rugs, and they should be arriving any day now.  Don't you need a new mat?

-- BillALSO - JUST ADDED:  Lara Eastburn, who created the hooping class at JSY, will be doing several new workshops at JSY this month.  Program options include:  Hooping & Journaling, Hooping & Wine Tasting, plus Sensual/Flow Hooping.  Check out her full schedule at www.superhooper.org/ClassesATL

Hope to see you soon on the mat!

Peace,

Bill Hufschmidt

In this workshop, we will use yoga, guided meditation, drawing, journal writing, and simple movement to experience a more authentic expression of body, mind, heart, and soul.

Thai Yoga Therapy:  SImple Thai Massage
with Bill Hufschmidt

For many centuries, Thai people have practiced Nuad Boran ("Thai massage") as an integral component of their medical and spiritual protocols. Modern Thai therapy draws from the influences of yoga and Ayurvedic medicine, Buddhist philosophical teachings, and the indigenous cultural experience of the Thai people.

This foundational course teaches the basic principles of Thai bodywork, including practitioner and recipient alignment, proper use of hands and fingers, and how to cultivate rapport with your client. Using your hands, arms and feet, you learn a sequence of techniques to guide the entire recipient's body through a 60-minute sequence of basic muscle massage and joint movement, moving the client's body in and out of basic therapeutic yoga postures.
