Finally - I want to send a HUGE thank you to Chris Mastin (who is the yogini featured on the September schedule). Chris graduated from our teacher training in February 2009, and has been working for the past 6 months as JSY's web-mastress, giving our website a much-needed facelift, as well as updating and coordinating our paper schedules & posters. If you have not yet taken her class, I highly recommend her teaching! Check out her class for the Living Room on Sep 30th, called " The World is your Mat." My three months of traveling are coming to an end. If you are interested in receiving some Thai work or private yoga, send me a message. I'd love to connect with you! Contact Improvisation is a dance form, originated by American choreographer Steve Paxton in 1972, based on the communication between two or more moving bodies that are in physical contact and their combined relationship to the physical laws that govern their motion-gravity, momentum, inertia.
Contact Improv develops a strong relationship with the earth. As participants move toward and away from the earth they develop balance, confidence and trust in the eternal cycle of life. This confidence and strength will be transferred into their yoga practice and into their experience of daily living.

We often talk about taking yoga "off the mat," as though yoga is something we do separate from the rest of our lives. Consider, though, that whatever's happening on the mat is also happening off the mat. Our relationships and our reactions to external events are colored by our memories, perceptions, tendencies and expectations. The same is true for our yoga practice.
Please join Chris Mastin for an exploration of what it means to see the whole world as our mat. The workshop will include discussion, asana practice, and meditation.

WHERE'S MY...?
Have you forgotten something at the studio after class? Below is our procedure for items left at the studio.
Items of significant value, such as wallets, expensive jewelry, or
rare, ancient tapestries, are kept in the office. Please contact JSY
about the item or ask the teacher the next time you're at the studio for a class.
Items of "regular" value, such as water bottles, clothing, mats, and so on, are stored in the purple cubbies by the sign-in table for approximately 30 days.
After that time, the staff sorts through the cubby-hole items and dispatches them as follows:
Items that would benefit another Jai Shanti student's yoga practice are put in the yoga "freecycle" basket in the lobby, free to whoever wants them.
Mats are added to the JSY mat-rental pile.
The rest of the items are donated to a local charity.
