Yoga & Shamanism with Ray Crist

March 27-29, 2009
Dancer

"We are living in a time where science and mysticism are merging, and the gap between Eastern and Western medicine is being bridged. I have come to an understanding that yoga is not only a philosophy, but also a science that examines the human condition. I believe that many teachings are lost in the translation from Sanskrit to English. My mission is to clarify yogic terminology and share my knowledge about the mechanisms involved and the science behind what the Yogis and Shaman masters refer to as the matrix of energies."   - Ray H. Crist

Yoga and Shamanism are two ancient systems that enable us to transform mundane everyday life into a profound and mystical experience. Their parallel paths of practice bring self-healing and transformational power, preventing illness and allowing mindful living. Through this workshop you will discover how the practice of yoga and shamanism lead to increased personal power and a sense of the Divine presence in all things.

The workshop is composed of four sessions and you can take one or more of them.

Fri, Mar 27 - 8p-9:30p, Jai Shanti Yoga
Yoga & Shamanism: Principles of the Jaguar Path

Sat, Mat 28 - 2:30p-5:30p, Jai Shanti Yoga

Dr. Leon Lashner
Dr. Leon Lashner

Come meet Leon, taste his wonderful dessert, and get a demonstration of Creative Alignment this Wednesday, March 18th from 7:30 - 9:30 at Jai Shanti Yoga.

It's free...sign up here (so we know how much Bella Creme to make) or just drop in!

Who is Leon?

Dr. Leon Lashner is a doctor of chiropractic, a doctor of naturopathy, and a diplomate in ayurvedic medicine.

He has been in practice for more than 25 years and is experienced in working with most chronic and acute health conditions. He has taught and lectured throughout the United States, as well as in Europe and Australia.

Dr. Lashner currently practices out of his home in Atlanta, as well as seeing patients on a limited basis in Boston, Massachusetts and the US Virgin Islands.

Creative Alignment is a new focus to his work. Rather than using illness or disease as a starting point, the purpose of Creative Alignment is to uncover and identify the energetic blocks to each individual's creative potential, whether those blocks be emotional/spiritual issues,  physical alignment, systemic toxicity, nutritional deficiency, or other patterns that may come to light.

The work itself is a creative and intuitive process. In Creative Alignment the focus is more about asking the right questions  rather than knowing all the answers.

In addition to his healing work, for the past several years Leon has been producing and marketing an exciting new frozen dessert. Bella Crème is a non-dairy gelato, based on coconut cream, made with all organic products. Because Bella Crème has been part of his creative process, Leon thought it would be fun to add that enjoyment to an evening of discussion and demonstration of Creative Alignment!

Understanding the Bhagavad Gita
Yoganand Michael Carroll
The 'right nature of things'
The Bhagavad Gita is a 2,500 year old Sanskrit text that offers profound insight into the deeper practices of yoga. In it, the  warrior Arjuna prepares for battle, but then doubts himself and his mission. This leads to a conversation with Krishna, his teacher. Krishna's answers to Arjuna's questions explain the many challenges and stages of the yogic spiritual path, including the necessity of action in the material realm of human existence.

Join Yoganand Michael Carroll, of Pranakriya Yoga, for an exploration of the Bhagavad Gita. In this four-day intensive, we will examine themes from the Bhagavad Gita that are meaningful for us as modern yoga practitioners.

DATE: April 2-5 (Thu-Sun), 2009, 8:30a - 6:30p
LOCATION: Urban Body Studios
