Hi
Tonight, we are dedicating the
Living Room class, "Dance Toward Intimacy" with Hylan Scott to the
memory of John Stowe, who died yesterday, Feb 3.
John
helped to organize and participated in the Dominique Sire workshops
that JSY has offered over the past 4 years. His life is a celebration
of movement, dance, play, personal discovery, and manifesting your
dreams. The donations given tonight will be offered to John's partner,
Monty.
Wed 8p - Feb 4, 2009. The Living Room presents: "Dance Toward Intimacy" with Hylan Scott
Effective
interaction requires the ability to move fluidly from leading to
following and back again. Over and over life asks us to initiate and
then step back and receive. As we grow older and our roles become more
defined, sometimes concretized, it is possible to lose touch with the
renewing dance of Yin and Yang. In this workshop we will utilize
movement, healthy touch and spoken word to explore our relationship
with giving and receiving.
Next week in the Living Room we will show the DVD: Orgasmic Birth - You Tube clip

Did you know that we are now offering Yoga for Kids (ages 7/8 to 13/14?) We
have added classes for kids on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-3:50p. The class will use story telling and yoga to teach kids how to use their bodies and breath safely and playfully! Please help
us pass the word about this/these classes to your friends who have kids
in this age range.
DON'T WORRY IF YOU MISSED THE FIRST WEEK OF Yoga Basics: Attitude Creates Altitude - an 8 week series with Bill & Marlysa. continues until Feb23 - Mondays 7:30p-9:30p
This Series will meet again from March 30 until May 18
You do not need to attend every week to benefit from this series. And the more you come, the more you get!
$16 per class - or $108 if you pay in full during the first week
Every yoga posture has two forms - the external and the internal. Most yoga focuses on the external form - where you put feet and your hands, how you position your spine. The internal posture - the energy, the bhavana, the attitude - is ever changing, because energy is always changing. You can do the same posture 10 times, and it can look the same on the outside, but feel different on the inside. This yoga series will focus on how to assess, develop and correct your inner posture, as well as the outer posture. Yes - the series is called Basics - but every level of practitioner can find value in this series and the discussions. Click here to read more and to register.
Effective Jan 1, 2009,all students will be required to have their own yoga mat. We will have yoga mats availble for rent if you forget yours ($3/class).
Why require mats? Two
reasons - first, to invite you to make a commitment to your practice
and the space on which to do your practice. Second and more
importantly, for hygiene purposes. I have read stories about people
contracting critters off of yoga mats, and after talking with other
teachers and studio owners, I feel the best thing to do is encourage
self-responsibility and let everyone get their own mat.
