March 2010 Fitzpatrick Winery & Lodge Newsletter
All the News that's Fitz
Greetings!
What a way to kick off the Green Month of March with the SacBee article this past Sunday. Our tasting room was overrun with new faces either carrying in the article or stating that's why they're here. And set a new record sales day that morning at the Sacramento Farmers Market.

And in anticipation of the SacBee article, my webmaster Timothy O'haigin and I began scurrying to finish as many pages as we could and launch our new website late Saturday night. And after some on and off again challenges Fitzpatrick's new website launched into cyberspace Sunday by 0930 hours. The new site is chock full of information with more to come as time permits me to keep on writing. We love the look and feel and we hope it serves you, our customer, well. You're sure to find glitches and typos so don't be bashful - let me know with your emails.

Keep reading for everything that's happening in March and beyond. With all this rain we are going to put on a real show with wildflowers this spring too.

Let's Go to Ireland 2010
Brian Fitzpatrick your guide and host   14 days to explore the Emerald Isle Rock of cashel
Been dreaming about going to Ireland someday? Don't dream your life, live your dream and let's go in 2010. We leave the end of October for two weeks into November, the tourists are gone and it's just us and the Irish and that's plenty enough. We'll see Ireland through Irish eyes.

Read all about it on our new website, click on the link below. And remember we travel light and with a small group of just 10 adventurous fun-loving travelers traveling in the comfort of our own transportation able to go anywhere and do anything we want to do. The King and the Queen (you might remember them from our King's Red Medieval banquets) are coming and that leaves only space for 6 more.

We're back in some upcoming Fair Play Wine and Poker Runs
We're holding rooms with tickets to make it a very special weekend Poker Run
We pick out four dates for 2010 that we'll join in the Fair Play Wine and Poker Runs: starting May 15th, August 14th, October 9th and November 20th. So here's fair warning to give you, Fitzpatrick customers a chance to get not only your tickets but package it up with a stay here to.

The ultimate package will be a two night stay Friday and Saturday nights with our wood-fired oven pizza on Friday night and Wine and Poker Run on Saturday which includes an awards dinner too. So you can just come home to the Lodge and relax. So stay with us for two nights, buy your two tickets and we'll comp you a pizza of your choice. Saturday night is available too as a one night stay with two Poker Run tickets but we highly recommend two.

March Whereabouts
where's Brian   Grass Valley, Napa, San Francisco
In the month of March I may be coming to a town near you. Saturday March 6th I'll be in Grass Valley pouring our wines at their Foothills Celebration on E. Main Street in the Bon Bon Salon (next to the Can Can?). I have 4 tickets worth $40 each to give to you - Call me 530-651-3890 asap wine tasting goes from 1-4pm.

Then on Sunday March 14th from 2-5pm I'll be pouring at the Rutherford Grange Hall in the Napa Valley for the first ever Irish themed wine and food tasting called "When Irish Wines are Smiling". Now this should be a good time. Does anyone want to help me pour?

On Saturday March 20th in downtown San Francisco the El Dorado Wineries' road show comes to San Francisco town. Hosted by Postrio Restaurant, 25 El Dorado wineries will be represented and poured first for the trade followed by a ticketed event for the wine drinking public. This is a first for El Dorado wines in SF. Tickets are available at www.vinunderground.com .

Morrissey's Journey 2006
ruby port of Syrah   uncork the magic
A wee bit extra age on this rendition of Morrissey's Journey makes for an even mellower experience. What can I say but that Syrah is a natural for a rich rewarding ruby port style dessert wine.

We always bottle in 375 ml size bottles which we did this time too until we ran out and then finished up with a handful of cases of 750 ml bottles.

Emergency Release of the 2008 Eire Ban

The 2007 Eire Ban was selling like hot cakes and all of a sudden we ran out of 2007 labels with about 20 cases left. Bad for us but good for a few of you. Those 20 cases we'll go out the back door with makeshift labels not worthy of a store's shelf but just as delicious poured in a wine glass - Call us to reserve a case for $48 must pick up at winery or farmers market.

That means the equally or more delicious 2008 Eire Ban, our Sauvignon Blanc, is now in emergency release mode. Luckily we bottled the wine in 2009 and labels are here and we're ready to go (or let go). And the price is still only $10, a value not to be found for a hand-crafted quality wine made from organically grown grapes.
