the number one question in our tasting room
Since we're talking about LOVE why don't I
answer that most asked questioned here in the
tasting room - What wines do you love?
meaning what wines are my favorites. Well
Diana and I usually respond with the cute but
un-delivering answer 'We love all our
children'. That probably seems like a cop-out
to some especially if you never raised two or
more children
and I understand. That would piss me off a
little if I was really looking for your opinion.
But just remember that my opinion is what satisfies my palate and satisfies me currently, because like you my interests in wines meander and migrate over time and doubles back again. I pour a taste of our 2006 Syrah and I say to myself, 'Damn that's good, why haven't I been drinking that lately'. So much wine and not enough time. This past weekend at the Bring out the Barrel event I was focusing on our 2006 Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and the new Tippitonia and I honestly was impressed and love each one of them. As a matter of fact, I can honestly say that never before have I been so pleased and satisfied with my lineup of wines than right now. So when I say'I love all my Children', I really mean it. And I'm really looking forward to our new 2009 Sangre de Montana - the Euro style dry rose. Imagine that wine is already in the bottle and it was only picked three months ago. I really did capture the 'blood of the mountain'. We'll be pouring that starting this weekend. |

What's not happening in February?
Three Super Weekends right in a row,
starting
with Super Bowl weekend of which I already
mentioned above. And this Gumbo is the real
thing.
Then that main event Valentine's Day and the weekend leading up to it will be full of lovely wine deals and dark chocolate goodies to go with them here at the tasting room. And I'll try to bring some homemade chocolates to the farmers markets too. And what about Fat Tuesday February 16th? How about a long soak in our hot tub under the stars, a little chocolate, some wine, a good movie - we've got just the place. And that cherished three day Presidents' Weekend is always hoppin and could be a peak into beautiful Spring weather to come. And imagine enjoying our Ploughman's Lunch or Irish Cobb salad, etc. with wine and friends basking in the warm sun on our new garden patio. Your wine cellar may be sparse and your wallet getting thin and you're stooping to pick up those floor stack deals on mass marketed wines but with all the deals we offer you can drink quality wines, made from organically grown grapes with earth-friendly practices from a small-family farm for very generous prices. Fitzpatrick wines have got you covered and you're going to feel good before, during and after your experience with Fitzpatrick wines. And for the last weekend in February we're just going to have to make it up - Let's call it Pinot Sunday and we'll do it on Saturday too. We'll pour samples of this fabulous new estate grown 2008 Pinot Noir for which we have only 36 cases. |

Back in the US, back in the US, back in the US from DR
No we didn't feel that terrible earthquake
even though we were on the same island as
Haiti. Our adventure vacation carried on 300
miles to the East of devastation. Diana and I
would have changed our vacation venue to help
but not when you're traveling with an infant,
our granddaughter Ryan.
We had a great time, gorging on tropical fruits, enjoying the sun and especially the warm ocean water. I myself spend as much time as possible in-on-and under that beautiful water. We crisscrossed over much of the Dominican Republic witnessing both the poverty and prosperity and marveling at the natural beauty. We visited Michael Chazin, whom many of you will remember as the man who started Perry Creek Vineyards. Michael and wife Rosa were so welcoming and really made our time around Sosua fabulous. I can report they're doing well and living the tropical life to the fullest planting everything that produces something to eat. |
