August 2008 Fitzpatrick Winery & Lodge Newsletter
Our 29th Crush has already begun!
Greetings!
We've got lots of Great news to share and unlimited reasons to come visit us in September. The big highlight is our first granddaughter has arrived and gets the cover of this month's eNewsletter - Ryan Jenna entered our world August 29th and we'll give you all the details below.

We've bottled some beautiful wines this summer and they should be labeled and ready for release before month's end. Pizza Night continues through mid- October. El Dorado's Tour de Vine, our 20 winery harvest fair is just two weeks from now and tickets are available.

We begun our 29th Harvest already with bringing in the Chardonnay, Semillion and our precious Pinot Noir. Tomorrow we pick the Sauvignon Blanc. So away we go for Harvest 2008. Hey let's just dig in and I'll tell you all about what's in store for September at Fitzpatrcik's.

The Celtic Tree of Life keeps on keepin on.
Katie Fitzpatrick gives birth to beautiful Ryan
Our oldest daughter Katie Mae that most of you know had a wonderful pregnancy and was the picture of good health. At 1:48AM on Friday August 29th she gave birth to a baby girl named Ryan Jenna Jalquin. Ryan tipped the scales at 10 lbs. and ran the tape out to 23 inches and shared the good health of her mother. The birth didn't come easy after 30 hours of labor but all is well now. And Diana and I are drunk with joy with the arrival of our first grandchild.

Here's a little FYI - In French Basque grandmothers are called 'Amachi'. So just like Diana called her Grandmother 'Amachi' and our kids called Diana's Mom ' Amachi', so too will Diana be called 'Amachi' by baby Ryan.

In Irish there are several words for Grandfather. Seanathair (Shan ah HER) meaning 'old father' or Athair Mor (AH her MOR) meaning 'Great Father' are but two possibilities. But since I was brought up in an Irish American clan, we called Grandpa Grandpa. So I'll be Grandpa.

Pinot Sundays all through September
taste our new 2006 Pinot Noir
Fair Play's first planting of Pinot Noir is starting to produce some special classic Pinot Noirs. Our estate bottled 2006 vintage is the best yet. The aromas will have your nose permenently attached to your glass trying to extract the enticing Pinot Noir aromas. In your mouth it's all about elegance. 42 cases were produced and were asking the modest price of $24 per bottle. Stop by on a Sunday and enjoy a taste and add some of this great wine to your cellar before it's all gone.
El Dorado's Wine Harvest Festival Tour de Vine
  September 13 & 14
Everyone's invited, it's not a bicyle tour; it's a harvest festival where you can take a peek at learning a little about winemaking and of course enjoy our wines. Here at Fitzpatrick's you'll be invited to sit down in the great room and watch a short show that I'll narrate about making wines from organically grown grapes. Afterwards I will answer your questions and we'll taste new wines.

A little heads up to save $10 is to click on the link below and purchase your tickets before September 8th for $35. Otherwise show up the day of the event and join in for $45. Tickets are admission for both Saturday and Sunday to visit 20 wineries.

Oktoberfest Weekends
  September 27 & 28 and the October 4 & 5
Come enjoy our tradition of serving a special Oktoberfest plate on Saturday and Sunday of the last weekend of September and the first weekend of October from 12 noon until 4:30pm or whenever the bread runs out.

The wood-fired oven will be baking the traditional onion bread, roasting the bratwurst, carmelizing the onions to serve with the sauted cabbage, chunky applesauce and spicy mustards. Enjoy a tasting of our line of mustards too.

The timing is perfect because it coincides with the release of our new wines: the 2006 Zinfandel, 2006 Merlot, 2007 Sangre de Montana, 2007 Chardonnay, the Z4 Cuvee and more. Come celebrate Harvest 2008 with us.

The Great Feast - a medeival banquet
by order of King Brendan XIII   6PM Saturday November 1, 2008
Having released the new King's Red XIII in summer, we opted to wait and hold the Great Feast until Celtic New Years Day, Saturday November 1st. As before I will fire up the wood oven and roast a medley of ribs and shanks and drumsticks along with vegetables and hearty breads. We'll gather in the high court of King Brendan to eat, drink and be merry. Although entertainment has not been selected at this writing it will be Celtic and exciting.

The Great Feast will be limited to 50 noble lords and ladies. The King asks each guest to bring one Ben Franklin or its equivalent plus the Governor's tax and a gratuity for the servents. However the King in his generosity and excitement for sharing the new KRXIII will send each guest home with 6 bottles of his new red wine fit for a king, the Royal Flush.

Contact Lady Diana to make your reservations for an unforgettable night at the Great Feast of King Brendan the XIII. Send the fee with your page or ring Lady Di at 800-245-9166 with Godspeed to claim your place at the High Court of the King.
