The bearded winemaker takes first place in Black & White!
Greetings!
Life just isn't always in color. Somethings are just black and white, like photographer Max Kern who stopped by last harvest to take some pictures. Max captures many things on film/digital but bearded men are one of his favorite subjects. And Max is capturing more than bearded subjects; he's capturing First Place ribbons in the B&W portrait category at the El Dorado County Fair with his headshot of me punching caps. Capturing me on film isn't easy because I'm a professional blinker whose synchronized timing is uncanny and would drive photographers crazy. Max did it and congratulations is all his. I'm trying to get Max to put on display here at the Lodge a cross section of his work. I'll announce the dates of his show soon.
Our best whites ever! Our July 'B(u)y the Box' selections too!
Chilled crisp whites are exciting when its hot! And when it's not!
I just have to share with you my pleasure and excitement with my 2006 vintage of whites. I've finally hit my mark. Actually I've captured youth, fresh, crisp, fruit, light and refreshing and full of flavor. Flavors that sip well and do even better quaffing down with foods. And if Wine Competition results matter, all our 2006 whites have won awards.

Take for instance our 2006 Eire Ban, a sauvignon blanc with an enticingly fresh aroma, with a combination of fruits and the clean refreshing hint of celery on the palate finishing with crisp but perfectly balanced acidity. What a perfect beverage for summer sipping, seafood pairing, cheese and fruit socializing, etc. Great value price of $10 gets an unrepeatable boost when you Buy the Box (case) during July at 40% OFF! That's only $6 per bottle.

Looking for the classic King of whites? Our 2006 Chardonnay is a real breakthrough to the other side for us. The lighter, friendlier, happy side of sipping Chardonnay where fresh fruit meets a subtle toasty oak background but in a refeshing lighter style. I'm winning back customers everyday with this 2006 vintage and want you to have a taste too. And Great value gets even better when our $12 chardonnay gets selected for July's Buy the Box (case) club at 40% OFF or $7.20 per bottle.

To round out the offering of Summer whites we've selected our 2005 Queen's Gold, that blend of both chardonnay and sauvignon blanc that delivers such an unique mouth sensation. It too at 40% OFF Buy the Box (case) is only $7.20 per bottle.

And lest we forget that some of you don't ever drink white wines, I'm adding an extra 4th selection to July's B(u)y the Box (case) offerings - our drinking better than ever 2003 Zinfandel. 40% of $15.00 ends up at only $9 per bottle by the case. That's July's "just do it" no- brainer deal of the month.

Friday Wood-Fired Oven Pizza Nights have gone musical
  July 6, 13 and 20th
Pizza and the roaming troubador Jerome will stop by your table this Friday July 6th strumming and singing his own creations and many favorite cover tunes we all remember.

Then on the 13th, the acoustic duo of Anderson & Gram is back but debuting at Pizza Night for the first time. Their music runs around the folk, country and bluegrass genres with some excellent self-composed songs and many familiar favorite tunes of yesterday and today. Great voices and musicians not to be missed.

Johnny Mojo and friends will be back July 20th to deliver those rockin' blues. Pizza never tasted so good when Johnny's singing the blues. This is the classic three-piece band where you just can't belive how much sound comes out of John Savino on the bass, Phil Pakka on drums and Johnny Mojo on guitar. Plan on extending your Pizza Night with a little dancing.

RED ALERT! Warning
More reds listed on the Endangered Vintage List
Just a heads up before its too late, the 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2003 Cabernet Franc, 2002 Syrah are officially put on the Endangered Vintage List. Our 2003 Pinot Noir is nearing extinction. These wines are still available but not for long. Act accordingly but don't say I didin't warn you.

Friday July 6th. Woke up this hot morning to quite a unique cloud spiral. Ran and got my camera. Thought you might enjoy.

Our Lodge is Open 7 days each week
  weekdays offer the best getaways
Having trouble finding a room at our Lodge on the weekends? Weekend rooms book up 2-3 months in advance here with very few cancellations. But weekdays offer the most potential for spontaneity and deliver an extra special relaxing stay.

Our 25 meter lap pool is the perfect place to hang in the heat. We'll be showing big screen movies outdoors under the stars Sundays and Thursdays up at the pool. Lie back in a lounge chair or dangle your feet in the pool while you take in the starry sky and a movie.

The new Wine Fellowship release schedule will be released sometime in August with a new membership cycle starting in late October. We welcome new members and encourage you to join now.
Where can you find our wines, besides here at the tasting room?
Slowly but surely our winegirl Nicole is placing Fitzpatrick wines.
Not an easy job with all the competition out there, Our winegirl Nicole is working hard and breaking through to get Fitzpatrick wines out there. The list is growing albeit slowly. If you're in their neighborhood, drop in and thank them for carrying Fitzpatrick wines - buy a bottle. And if you have any leads for Nicole email her at nicole.winegirl@starband.net

More about this later but we are breaking new ground and will start selling our wines at the Davis Farmers Market on Wednesday evenings and Sunday morning downtown Sacramento under the freeway. Start date for selling at the market should be within a couple weeks.
