There's a lot to do here in April
Greetings!
Spring into action is the operative word. April is full of great reasons to come visit us. Number one is the natural beauty. The vines are pushing their buds, the greens of native grasses and wildflowers are carpeting the vineyard floor. The forest is alive with fresh new foliage splashing every shade of green about. The natives are restless and singing a hundreds songs as they flitter and fly. The chaos that is Spring is something like an orchestra tuning up. The sheer beauty is worth the trip. And what says April better than anything is our new Sierra Dreams from its pastel label full of Sierra Foothill wildflowers to the delicate pink hue of the wine itself. This handsome blush wine is better than ever from its alluring floral nose to its light, fresh, crisp, berry-delicious experience in the mouth. Uncork the beauty of April with the 2006 Sierra Dreams.

Walking up the ramp to the tasting room, our lilac will drop a bomb of perfume to inhale. The visuals from our deck are mesmerizing. But the beauty continues inside at the tasting bar. We've just released our best white wines ever in a new style that fits today's lifestyle. These 2006 vintage wines are fresh, light and just want to be your friend. They want nothing better than to please you and there priced so you can enjoy them everyday. That's reason enough to come visit too.

But there's way more reasons than these two great reasons to come visit in April, read on...

Reds, Whites and Blues

Reds, Whites and Blues will be served throughout April at the tasting Room. Stunning new releases of Grenache, Merlot, Cabernets and Zin and our new 2006 vintage whites (Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc) will be sampled with world cheeses especially creamy Blues throughout April.

Doing just that sitting on our deck puts you that much closer to heaven. Rejuvenate yourself with the organically grown estate wines that only the Fitzpatrick family provides. Your good health starts with good choices.

After 27 years I finally got it right!
confessions of a winemaker   2006 Chardonnay will delight you!
Let me first confess, my Chardonnays of past were hot, not in a good sense, but too high in alcohol. I'm just a big sucker for golden grapes, waiting for every grape to turn from green to soft gold. Gold is the color of peak ripeness but I finally realized that's not necessary nor desireable in Chardonnay. I finally asked myself 'Who is drinking Chardonnay nowadays?'. I concluded that active women (not exclusively of course), whether they're housewives or business executives, uncork a bottle of cold Chardonnay late in the afternoon as they settle in at home and begin to prepare the family meal. And the pleasure of drinking is the drinking itself. So more than one glass is enjoyed before dinner is even served. With our Chardonnays of old Mama would soon be bombed. Women want a light-in-alcohol, delicious Chardonnay that still has flavor, character and a touch of toasty oak notes and for a good value because this is their everyday welcome home unwind beverage.

Well, I can say our 2006 delivers all that and less. I say 'less' because our Chardonnay (like all our wines) is grown and processed without any toxic chemicals - its organically grown. And its lower in sulfites (less than 100ppm) than other non-organic wines (which are allowed up to 350ppm). All this makes a big difference on how you feel after enjoying your glasses of wine.

So I ask you to do yourself a favor and try our new 2006 Chardonnay. Priced at a very modest $12, you could stock up with a case or two for as little as $9.00 as an introductory offer during April. Try it, I know you're gonna like it.

The Fair Play Wine Festival lives on June 2 & 3

After a few years fumbling around with the growing pains of some many new wineries opening, the Fair play Wine festival is going back to its roots - total anarchy. Way back when, 24 years ago, the Fair Play Wine Festival started as nothing more than three wineries all alone here in Fair Play sharing the promotion and dates for having our individual Open Houses. It was so well received that it bloomed quickly into 2 weekends. Now with 22 wineries things don't work exactly the same. And we tried some different ideas and failed. Failed only to make that new format a success. But the wineries have brushed themselves off and are ready to deliver a new wine festival.

This year we'll start out with just one weekend, the first weekend of June - June2 &3. It looks like we may have 20 wineries participating and the ticket price has been set at only $35 good for both days. What to expect? 20 wineries doing exactly what they want to do to offer you a festival experience. You may want to visit the FairPlayWine.com website in May to get more details as they surface. Tickets can be purchased here at Fitzpatrick's or any participating winery.

Being Fair Play's oldest winery, we think going back to our roots is a good thing. The Fair Play Wine festival was the biggest event of each year for 19 years running. With your help this year will be the same. Not everything old is a bad thing. You know here at Fitzpatrick's we've created many traditions over the years. And as a fun and effective way to entice Festival goers to move around more randomly, we've developed VINGO cards. Play VINGO both Saturday and Sunday and earn a thank you gift.

Our Price: $35
