March 2007 Merry Month of March eNewsletter
Greetings!
Say Happy fitzPatrick's Day is a slogan that goes way back to our beginnings in the early 1980s. Not to bore you too much with geneology but the connection is definitely ours to tout. Our Gaelic name MacGiollaPadraig means 'Son of the Guide or Devotee Patrick'. But St. Patrick's Day is the property of all people of Irish decent and celebrate we do all over the world. I like to think of the entire month of March as all things Irish. With the greening of spring and the off and on rain, March certainly reminds me of olde Erin. For sure with St. Patrick's Day falling on a Saturday, we invite you to stop by and show your colors. We'll have a Guinness Beef Stew bubbling away, Irish Brown Bread and our line up of Fitzpatrick wines, Irish beers and the traditional Ploughman's Lunch to enjoy. To mark the day itself, you can Say Happy Fitzpatrick's Day for 17% off your purchase of the greenest fine wines in the business.

And on a more solemn commemorative note, this weekend and next we'll be serving our homemade potato soup for your enjoyment and as a humble memory of the Great Hunger and troubles that have laced Ireland's history. The weather is shaping up to be spectacular to be sitting out on the deck this weekend. Come join us.

Say Happy 86th Birthday to my dear old Dad!
  some people are lucky enough
St. Patrick's Day is special enough to everyone of Irish heritage throughout the world and our best wishes to each and every one of you. But for my Dad (pictured here at the Jersey Shore where Mom and Dad reside - a gorgeous day just before Christmas 2006) St. Patrick's Day marks 86 years of living it up. Happy Birthday Joseph William Fitzpatrick.
We'll be marching out some great new wines!
An exciting wine month this March will be!
Busy, busy in the wine cellar this month the final blending adjustments and bottling three exciting 2006 vintage wines. The long awaited Sierra Dreams, a truely lovable Chardonnay and a can't get enough of crisp fresh Sauvignon Blanc will debut toward month's end. With a pendulum swing toward a lighter everyday style, these wines will be the talk of the town.

And the changing of the vintage guard will take place this month with the release of the 2003 Grenache and 2003 Merlot, both stellar beautifully aged wines ready to grace your finest tables. And exciting month this March will be!

Attention lovers of mature red wines. A long-time customer came in and asked to buy a case of our 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon. To be sure of its current quality I opened a bottle so we both could taste - surprisingly fantastic at almost 10 years old. Now the time to check this beauty at its peak. Buy a few bottles and revel in the benefits of age.

Above the fog, below the snow
  most of the time
Above the fog, below the snow! That's our slogan to describe our 2500 foot elevation here in the Sierra Foothills - the Sierra Sunbelt. Well, that may be true most of the time but every once in a while, like last Wednesday, we wake up to a beautiful silence and a mountain of snow. You know the old saying for March - In like a lion, out like a lamb or vice versa. I don't know what to make of this, maybe the silence of the lamb.
Buy the Box Selections for March
  2005 Queeen's Gold, King's Red XII, 2003 Zinfandel
As promised, every month I select three wines to offer to you for 40% by the box(case). Eventhough that may be too generous than is necessary, I want everyone of our customers to have the financial opportunity to enjoy our wines on a daily basis and at 40% off these wines are top of the list Great Values. Go ahead and take advantage, you deserve it.

Our 2005 Queen's Gold, a unique blend of a toasty oak aged Chardonnay scaled back with the crisp fresh Sauvignon Blanc, offers you the edge of the coin. And what grew from 'a royal mistake' years ago has become a rd wine fit for king sporting the best of pedigree in its constitution - the King's red XII. Please note its the 750mls on special. And thirdly, the bold boyish in your mouth zippy 2003 Zinfandel wants only one thing with each sip - a bite of food; and then everyone is happy.

New contact information for our winegirl

Nicole Jackson, our new employee whose mission it is to offer our wines to select restaurants and retailers, has email: Nicole.winegirl@starband.net

If you have any connections you would like to share, please give Nicole an email. Her territory is the greater Sacramento/Sierra Foothill area but we've already stretched beyond that when asked.
