Enthusiasm, Experience and Energy raring to go!
Enthusiasm, Experience and Energy meet your
challenge. Brian's out in the vineyard farming, down in
the winery winemaking, Diana's innkeeping and
welcoming you to our tasting room almost 7 days a
week. Phone's ringing off the hook and our customers
need a little tender loving care. In comes Nicole
Jackson to the rescue.
With an undeniable passion for the wine industry and a recent graduate in Public Relations from Sac State, Nicole's already logged in 7 years working in the wine and beverage industry. Nicole's going to help us communicate better and create a new level of personal service with our customers (that's you). Don't be surprised if she calls you on the phone some day. Nicole will take on several key tasks. Her efforts will both support and pull in our efforts to make progress quicker. Together we're going to build the Wine Fellowship into an exciting wine club. We're going to make it easier for you to continue to enjoy our wines inbetween your visits to our tasting room. And Nicole is going to hit the road and offer our wines to select restaurants and retailers throughout the greater Sacramento area. And in that regard we ask for your help. Everyone knows someone in the restaurant and retail wine business; you've got your favorite places to eat and shop for wines. Let Nicole know where they are and who the wine buyer is. And put in a good word for us. It's all about connections and communications. Nicole's breaking new ground as our Wholesale Wine Division Sales Manager. Nicole grew up in neighboring Amador County, is the oldest of 3 brothers and a sister and has a fury friend Kylie. Nicole enjoys the great outdoors camping, cycling, snowboarding and hiking. Nicole says her weak spots are great wines, the ocean and all dogs! Diana and I are excitied to welcome Nicole Jackson to become part of our family winery. |

Heaven can only wish about these earthly pleasures.
What kind of chocolate do you like? Dark chocolate,
milk chocolate, white chocolate? Chocolates and
wines are not a universal match; some matches are
made in heaven and others wouldn't hold a candle in
hell. Sweetness has a lot to do with your potential
for success. That said, the perenial favorite is
dessert wines with chocolates. Our Joyce's
Preoccupations would pair divinely with a white or
milk chocolate with hazelnuts, macadamias or
almonds. But dark chocolate paired with our Wilde's
Soul of Man, Morrissey's Journey or even the Z3
Cuvee would make lovers leap in ecstacy.
But when it comes to our beloved red table wines, like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc, Syrah and Zinfandel even Pinot Noir, the wonderful dryness of these wines make it a little more difficult to make that perfect match with chocolate. Pairing a dry wine with a sweet chocolate, a milk or white chocolate could make the wine seem bitter and/or sour. An oaky wine makes things even worse. But the bittersweet rich dark chocolate is your best choice for a successful pairing. And you can enhance these pairings with the help of raspberries, cherries, blueberries and blackberries (rich dark fruits). Remember when I hand dip dried cherries soaked until plump in our Syrah in dark chocolate? Or blueberries dipped in dark chocolate? That fruit matches fruit flavors within the wine itself. Another helpful combo is adding cheesecake to the mix, like rich chocolate/raspberry/cheesecake. You get the idea. So those wines I've mentioned above can be bundled in threes for 15% OFF or sixes for 20% OFF Now through February 28. Mix and match or all of one kind - it's up to you. Take away or have us ship the wine right to your door. Heaven on earth - enjoy now! |

Syrah, Merlot and Joyce's Preoccupations
Each month I select three wines to offer by the box
(another word for by the case) at 40% OFF. This
month enjoy our 2002 Syrah (try soaking dried
cherries in this wine, then hand dipping in dark
chocolate), our 2002 Merlot (enjoy with a steak,
roast beef or that special filet mingnon with your
honey), or our unique porto blanco Joyce's
Preoccupations (try with roasted nuts, warm brie,
goat cheese and even milk chocolate). These wines
by the box are legal but steals none the less.

Beisdes the great deals mentioned above,
Ploughman's Lunch is served every Saturday and
Sunday, goat cheese and crackers will be served at
the bar this Super Bowl weekend. Then for the
weekend before and the weekend after St. Valentines
Day hand-dipped homemade dark chocolate truffles,
etc. will be available. Rounding out the last weekend,
weather permitting, I'm stoking the wood-fired oven
to bake a medley of hearty breads for all to enjoy
while tasting our extensive line-up of handsome
estate grown wines.
Come stop by during the week too; we're open everyday except Tuesday. Many times even when there's fog in the valley, the sun shines warmly up here. And when it's stormy the tasting room is warm and cozy. Anytime's the right time to visit. |
